Shot at 6K with an Arri Alexa.

Also has a 4K-DI.

Roger Deakins' cinematography.

I won't be surprised one iota if this ends up being the best looking UHD disc once it's released.

Thought it was shot at 2.7K but still of course mastered at 4K. Huh.

Either way, definite blind buy from me.

I may be wrong.

I am going based off of what the IMDb specs are.

Deakins may very well have filmed it at 2.7k.

Either way, based on how good the transfer is for 'Sicario', which in my honest opinion, is still the best looking UHD disc as far as picture depth goes, I don't think it will matter what resolution it was shot at--as 'Sicario' was filmed at 3.4k.

Too bad he didn't use Arri's latest 4k/5k cameras. They're supposed to be the bee's knees.

The SXT line? They have the same 3.4k sensor. They just have the ability to upscale to 4k in-camera.

What 4K/5K cameras? The 65 is 6.5K and the plain jane Alexas are 3.4K Open Gate.

Have any of you people seen Sicario in 4K though? Shot at 2.8K and it looks sensational, it's like being there in the room with them. BR 2049 is going to look STUNNING in UHD, no ifs, no buts, no regrets about this and that.

Oh, sorry I guess I misunderstood the 4k Arri was just an in-cam upscale. I did mean the 65.

No worries. It's worth mentioning that the in-camera upscale is more for quick 4K delivery into TV workflows, as movies will still use the raw 2.8K/3.4K files as recorded and then debayer & upscale as part of their ingestion into the post-production pipeline.

Sicario on plain old Blu-ray is a stunner - saw it again not long ago and its got to rank amongst the best in PQ on blu.

And yet the UHD shits all over it. Resolution, range, compression, it's gorgeous.

A lovely transfer for a very dark (storywise) movie. I really enjoyed Arrival and hope Denis Villeneuve does a great job on Blade Runner as well.

That's what I just said, Geoff.

Hands down the best looking UHD disc as far as image depth goes.

Plus Deakins fixed the grade on the HDR the studio made for it.

Please stop using IMDb as a source.

Alexa Studio, Plus and M cameras were used. And in Open Gate 3.4K.

Confirmed by the God himself:

I dunno why their pre-order is up so early, but their BD price is better than what it'll probably be on release date. For those so inclined (which I don't think there are many over on these 4K forums lol).

Good catch, I saw that too. Lets hope Deakins gets his due this awards season for this film.

I don't know why I find this as funny as I do. But no worries.

I'm just glad I'm not the only one on here that is a huge fan of the transfer for 'Sicario.'

I try to refrain from using IMDb for anything. But I probably don't visit a lot of the sites and whatnot that the majority of you do on here.

I'm still learning.
