Default Halloween Horror List

I'm kicking off the horror season this weekend. The last few years I have been watching titles I haven't seen but this year I want to have a mix of new titles but also revisit the classics. I would like to get ideas from members.

I've bought a few new titles like Screams Black Christmas, Arrow's Children of the Corn, The Dead Zone Australian import.

Halloween Collection of course.
Dawn/Day/Land of the Dead.
Screams Return of the living Dead, The Thing, Carrie, Child's Play, Texas Chainsaw 2.
Evils Deads
Conjuring 1&2
The Haunting
American Werewolf in London
Monsters Universal Collection
Some Hammer films
Nightmare on Elm streets

I've got too many to list (at least 170. I started on 9/1) but post your thoughts on that Dead Zone transfer when you watch it. Been wanting to get it but not sure how good the transfer is.

Will do. I bought it last year so I'm eager to watch it. It's been years since I've watched it.

Such a great flick that needs a special edition here in the US!

It's solid. It's not on the level as some recent titles but it's good. Nice PQ.

It's clearly a short film concept stretched out to full length, but it has some sold moments and decent filmmaking.

Both the Short and the full film were great. The feature length film was far better than I expected it to be as well. At $10 or less it's such an easy obvious recommendation for the Halloween season for folks that haven't snagged it already.

I think some people are too kind with this film. I didn't think the concept was at all that compelling, and frankly I couldn't make it through the first fifteen minutes of the movie before I turned it off.

it's always horror season at my house. i'll probably trot out a few just for the season though. i try to stay away from the usual stuff though. the Halloween films will be on tv all month so no point and there seems to be a few others that cable beats this time of year.

I've been watching a few, I guess I need to look through my collection and make a list. I can never decide. Other than the major franchises, I never know what I am going to watch as I like to have a big list of one that I am interested in and then big from there.

One thing that is pretty awesome this year is how Friday the 13th falls into October so I can watch my favorites of the series (parts 1,2,4,6 and 8) on the 13th and then Crystal Lake Memories on Saturday the 14th. Only thing that sucks is that I tend to watch those and The Nightmare on Elm Street films near the end of my marathon so I can get Freddy vs. Jason in right after but I'll just split it up for a change this year.

Excuse my intrusion but you seem to have forgotten about part 3 and accidentally mentioned part 8 instead. That's alright though, mistakes are easily made.

Anyway it's always horror time at my house. Most recently I saw Conjuring 1 & 2, Annabelle, Silver Bullet, Argento's Inferno and Opera, Poltergeist 3D, Wrong Turn, Signs, both Vampire Hunter D anime movies and Alien Covenant.

This month I'm planning to watch at least the first four Friday The 13th films on the 13th, other titles I'm planning to watch (again) very soon are Exorcist III, Bride Of Re-Animator, Shark Night 3D, Piranha 3D, Halloween I & II, Intruder, Demons 1 & 2 and the Evil Dead remake.

Haha! I actually might give part 3 a go this year. It's been years since I've seen it but never really cared for it. I've always been a fan of part 8 though. I think it's a really fun Jason film and I like that it takes it out of Camp Crystal Lake for a change. It's a ridiculous film of course but I find a lot to enjoy about it and find it underrated frankly. Also I find it to be very disturbing too which adds a lot to the atmosphere due to the fact that it's the only Friday the 13th film where Jason watches almost every one of his victims beg for their lives as he slowly kills them.

It's funny, I rarely watch the Friday the 13ths during Halloween season. It's always my go to set during the summer. But, since there is a Friday the 13th in October I'm going to have to watch a few.

Yeah it's definitely the perfect opportunity.

I also just read that you haven't seen Trick r Treat yet. You won't be disappointed. It's one of my top favorite horror films and and a fantastic horror anthology.

This is a great time of the year. I'm looking forward to a month long marathon of horror films. I have no interest in all the predictable choices that have been beaten to death on these boards. My tastes run to a mix of some of the old Universal chestnuts, and more atmospheric films in line with the Fall and the Halloween season.

I respect that. The last few years I haven't been watching the standards, but this year I want to go back to basics and revisit some. The Universals are a must this year and so are some of the Hammers.

I watch The Lost Boys every year. I’ll probably watch The Conjuring, NOES, Return of the Living Dead, and a few others.

This year I might avoid the usual stuff I watch every October. I'll be mostly watching blind buys, first time on Blu-ray, and revisiting movies I haven't in watched years. I'll probably even stream some stuff on Netflix.
