The Hilarious Action-Comedy Starring Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson Arrives on Digital HD November 7 and 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray™ Combo Pack, and DVD November 21 from Lionsgate

SANTA MONICA, CA (September 26, 2017) – Leading an all-star cast, Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool, The Proposal) and Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction, Marvel’s Cinematic Universe) take viewers on an outrageous action-packed, comedic adventure in The Hitman’s Bodyguard, arriving on Digital HD November 7 and 4K Blu-ray Combo Pack (plus Blu-ray and Digital HD), Blu-ray™ Combo Pack (plus DVD and Digital HD), DVD and On Demand November 21 from Lionsgate. When Michael Bryce, an elite bodyguard, and Darius Kincaid, a renowned hit man, are forced to work together, they don’t just have to avoid getting killed…they also have to avoid killing each other. The film, which was #1 at the summer box office three weeks in a row, also stars Oscar® nominees Gary Oldman (2011, Best Actor, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) and Salma Hayek (2002, Best Actress, Frida).

The world’s top protection agent (Reynolds) is called upon to guard the life of his mortal enemy, one of the world’s most notorious hit men (Jackson). The relentless bodyguard and manipulative assassin have been on the opposite end of the bullet for years, and are thrown together for a wildly outrageous 24 hours. During their raucous and hilarious adventure from England to the Hague, they encounter high-speed car chases, outlandish boat escapades, and a merciless Eastern European dictator (Oldman) who is out for blood. Hayek joins the mayhem as Jackson’s equally notorious wife.

Directed by Patrick Hughes (The Expendables 3, Red Hill) and written by Tom O’Connor (Fire with Fire), The Hitman’s Bodyguard 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and Digital HD features exclusive bonus content including outtakes; four featurettes; deleted, extended, and alternate scenes; and audio commentary with director Patrick Hughes. The DVD will include director commentary and a behind-the-scenes featurette. The 4K

Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack, and DVD will be available for the suggested retail price of $42.99, $39.99 and $29.95, respectively.

That was very enjoyable for a late summer release. I don't know if the filming style is going to be worth the 4K price. It's shot in an overexposed style that make it feel dreamlike at times. So it looks soft and not sharp.

It will probably just be for the BD version if one happens like with John Wick 1/2 and Now You See Me 2.

FYI:

Quote:
Although it does have a 4K master, the media was shot in less than 4K using a high quality camera.

Even films shot with a 2.8K camera have more than twice the pixels as an ordinary 1080p Blu-ray.

These titles should see a noticeable improvement over a standard Blu-ray.

Shot in 3.4K

VFX Rendered in 2K (unconfirmed, but likely)

Digital Intermediate at 4K

I love Ryan Reynolds and Sam Jackson. However, the movie just didn't work for me. A few humorous moments is all I got out of it. If I buy it at all, it'll have to be a Black Friday price.

I love those guys as well. Had so much potential. I didn't see it, but it got crappy reviews, and the trailer didn't make me have much interest either.

My son and I went to see it. He said it was the best movie of the year. I told him he is no longer allowed to judge film ever again until he watches every movie I own.

BTW, he's only 18. I forgave him.

This movie will be released in the Netherlands as well. The first 4K UHD Blu-ray by the company Dutch Film Works.

And it seems it will come with Dolby Vision as well. I try if I can get this confirmed.

LOL I hope they won't continue their "legacy" for which they are known during the DVD and Blu-ray era. I see Belga is also releasing their first UHD: Valerian.

Doesn't matter to me anyway, I will still import the US and/or UK releases for movies which have been licensed by these small independent Dutch companies.

I wanted to like it, but the movie is just so damn boring. The best scenes are in the trailer. Literally, nothing really interesting happens, and I've happily forgot nearly the entire film. Green Lantern is a far better movie than this. It's all because of the screenplay, no witty dialogue. It was just a paycheck to collect for everybody involved.

These 4k BD reviews so far, don't make the format a must-have deal. I had a 4K set for years, and only recently actually saw real 4K - and I am not impressed. With many films shot on digital, that limits the quality of a 4K from the start and they will not scale well on 8K. Film makers should continue to record on film and master in digital, that gives the best picture quality and is good to go into the future.
