Default HD DVD's feeble counterattack Predictions?

I think the majority of us agree that the HD camp is on life support right now, but now that they have to reevaluate things, I'm sure they are not going to go out without a fight. What are some of your predictions of what they will attempt to do to try and recover from this before Blu Ray puts the nails in the coffin?

$50 HD DVD players. But would you really want to buy one if you could only get movies from two studios?

They will have to give them away for free.

Oh wait they tried that last month already.

The first time they were on life support they paid off paramount

The next time, they had a $100 clear out.... How much money can they throw at this?

When I told a friend that Warner has gone exclusive, he said, "I'll still support HDDVD becasue I like the movies they have." I was thinking, "How can you support HDDVD if within six months the will be no more HDDVD?"

I assume the "big news" HD DVD was going to unveil at CES was an XBOX 360 with built-in HD DVD player. It doesn't matter now. It wouldn't surprise me if Microsoft pulls this announcement now and never mentions it again.

It will obviously be very difficult for Toshiba to persuade studios and specifically Warner to go HD-DVD exclusive at this point in time. As someone mentioned, they don't have much more to loose. All the cards are on the table and defeat for Toshiba will mean major financial losses.

So I have a gut feeling that Toshiba will try to pay Warner to go back Neutral with a statement like "Please go back neutral; we will pay you XXX amount of dollars and you can continue to produce BDs as well, so you have nothing to loose. Give us 6 - xx months to prove to you HD-DVD is really the way to go".

That is what I am thinking is going to happen; I just hope Warner will stick to their guns.

I think they will pull the plug soon by respect for their own customers. We can only hope key players of the HD DVD group will join the BDA. If HDM is to succeed it must be unified like DVD.
