The Burghs
Default Let the healing begin!

We need to ease our Red brother's suffering and pain through the 5 stages of mourning.

The stages are:

1. Denial: The initial stage: "It can't be happening!!!"
2. Anger: "Why Warner why? It's not fair!"
3. Bargaining: "Just one more release on HD-DVD Warner, please I'll do anything!"
4. Depression: "I'm so sad, why bother with anything HD-DVD? $@!* It, everything is going on EBAY!"
5. Acceptance: "It's going to be OK. I'll just get a PS3!"

Together we will hold their hand towards their first Blu purchase and they too shall see the light.

Can I get an AMEN?!

Is this the "official" welcome to our HD brothers and sisters?

If so...

We welcome you all to Blu-ray. This is a wonderful site and has a ton of info. The first thing you'll notice is a lack of spin from our insiders thread. The insiders are great and you'll learn alot.

Welcome!

I was about to make a similar post, but since you beat me to it, I'll put my thoughts here.

To the existing Blu-ray.com community:

Aside from a few small plays that should be made in the near future, the war is over and we won. That's great and all the celebrating is certainly in order. But over the next weeks and months our red brothers and sisters will settle down from their disappointment (or furious anger), and will at some point be making the decision to buy a Blu-ray player and join us in high-def bliss. As this happens, I think it's important that we be good sports about the whole thing and welcome them when the time comes. This forum is set to become the premiere online forum for discussing the soon-to-be-mainstream Blu-ray format. We are all family, and our family is about to become a lot bigger. Past disputes should be put aside, and newcomers should be welcomed regardless of their earlier decisions or statements.

To former HD DVD fans (and former fence-sitters) who are new to the forum:

Welcome to the forum! I hope you find this forum to be a fun place to come and discuss your passion for high-definition video, films, and other things we all enjoy. We have excellent insiders and forum members here who can answer just about any question you can think of regarding film, Hollywood, and Blu-ray disc. If you formerly supported the other format, we understand that you may be somewhat disappointed by the outcome of the format war, but we hope you come to enjoy Blu-ray as much as we do and can put your past grievances aside.

Again, welcome to all the new members!

My initial post was a bit tongue in cheek, but the underlying message is the same.

There will be some "gnashing of teeth and pounding of breast" at first but we do welcome you with open arms.

I for one, only wish for blu-ray to be established as the High Def format of the future. I welcome everybody into our forum (with one execption). I believe that the comments made today by D.Vaughn (who I have criticized in the past) showed a lot of class. Most of the early adopters are movie lovers, and that is one thing we have in common! Guys ...I am buzzed with all the Rum I had! Great night to all!

Small addendum: Please just give it a couple of days to allow things to settle down and get back to "normal".

As I posted in another thread:

The format war is over for all intent and purpose. I fully support Warner's decision to go with Blu-ray and if any concerns they had about the format have been laid to rest, then so have mine. Universal and Paramount should follow suit and get this monkey business behind us.

Best,

David
Where I did not always agree with him I do think he is a honorable person not a zelot.

Come on...
Some die hard HD-DVD fanboy needs to be sacraficed to a firm kick in the ass before the open arms policy begins!

After that... it's all hugs and kisses.

Wow, nice bringing Elisabeth Kubler-Ross into the format war. Actually we just won a battle that will hopefully end the war. We still need to win over Universal and Paramount. But this is such great news today especially because most of us did not expect it this soon. I am so proud of our insiders and the Blu-ray members. I have also called my HD DVD friends and talked them though some of these steps. I recommended that they take advantage of the BOGO to get their Blu-ray libraries started. Indeed, let the healing begin.

It's hilarious though. Some are so anti-Blu that they're just going to stick with upconverted DVD's and downloads (wth?) as opposed to buying a Blu Ray player. Kudos to those who can accept defeat and move on.

Spider sense says there is a poll in the making - "Which HD-DVD zealot must receive a bottom beating to seal the peace in the format war?"

Just kidding... A big welcome to all new Blu-ray.com members.
