I remember when it took a year for theatrical films to hit home video.

I just saw this movie tonight and I love it. Sure, it may not be historically accurate, but it was eye candy and virtually every song was an earworm.

IMDB puts this as filmed in 3.4K and 6.5K and finished in 4K. I know IMDB isn't always accurate, but I was hoping to get a true 4K Blu-ray. Admittedly a lot of close-up shots weren't properly focused, but the film as a whole deserves a 4K DI.

As a side note, I can't wait to hear this in Dolby Atmos (there aren't any cinemas with Dolby Atmos near me) and see it in HDR. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for a 4K Steelbook.

Good to hear. I thought the trailers looked great, but the tomato meter reviews being delayed till opening day had me worried. Granted this is clearly revisionist history.

We can dream, I was shocked when War For The Planet of The Apes didn’t have a US steel. Last Fox US Steel was Logan, maybe? Can’t think of any others.

I’m ashamed, I forgot about Kingsman.

Best opening of any film since John Wick Chapter 2. I do feel a an extended cut would benefit the film. The emotional scenes seemed rushed and their wasn't a tremendous amount of time to build on the relationships especially with the vast array of characters.

I completely agree, technically the movie has impressive cinematography and a dynamic 7.1 mix (I wasn't able to hear the Dolby Atmos mix in the cinema ) but the story felt choppy and vapid.

it's very apparent in an outdoor shot of the Mansion, where the flowers and everything in the frame has tremendous sharpness and three dimensionality - this will look gorgeous on UHD.

So multiple sources have stated that this was filmed in 6.5K resolution and finished on a 4K DI. In theory we should get a genuine 4K UHD disc. I really hope so, but I’m happy either way. Hopefully someone can confirm this before the release.

I remember the days when only big releases were even sold in stores. This is back in the VHS days.

We used to get the little flyer from the video rental place in the local grocery store chain. It used to list the dates of upcoming videos. Some were months out and, yes, often 7 months to a year later. In the back it listed the films even further away from release by quarter or expected month.
That was like 1996-99. Can you believe we are on 3 month turnaround now?

I miss the 2nd run theaters. So rare now...
