Lightbulb I've developed an iOS app

I've developed an iOS app to keep track of all CD, DVD, Bluray, PS4 Games, PS3 Games, ... by scanning all barcodes and get all info + cover image and store them with lots of feature to list by genre, name, ...

It'll be on app store early 2018, and I'm planning to be FREE.

I think its best way to do so.

Any suggestions are welcome.

here are some screen captures:

What are those "lots of features"? What about cast and crew data of movies and TV shows? Will you rely on contributors for those data like DVD Profiler? Or can the user import cast and crew data from IMDb?

Looks like the information he was referring too is whatever Amazon has available.

Hmmm... does this break forum rules? Technically it is a form of self-promotion, is it not?

I’m guessing that this free app will have ads forced upon the users? Thus, the OP stands to personally gain from promoting it here.

Is it Amazon US site only, or does it include Amazon UK, Japan, etc.? I buy a lot of movies from Amazon UK and occasionally other countries' Amazon sites.

If this app pulls data from Amazon's database, then I'm more worried about whether the author has Amazon's permission to do so. DVD Profiler has the same issue: it cannot import data from IMDb or wherever, but has to create its own database.

As far as I know, you can use amazon db and all contents for affiliates programs. So I and many other programs like this one, use and insert links to buy and open amazon links if you click or wish to buy them again or items like the one you'd browsed. Under fair use policy.

You can see many apps like this like: "mystuff2" or ... they'll use even Amazon name under their barcode fetch configurations.

And your other question; Yes only US Amazon implemented now, and dont have any plans for others.

No offense intended, but how is this different from the app this site provides?

So... you DO stand to profit from advertising this app in these forums?

Profit how?? I want to release it for free.
I'm sharing the app I've developed with others for free, and something you keep in mind is how I'm profiting free app.

It’s a free app, so people don’t pay for it. I understand that. However, will your in-app links to the Amazon listings for purchasing the items yield you the affiliate commissions? Also, will there be ads incorporated into the app?

The suspicious part is you've come to a community and haven't contributed anything. You registered on the 5th, made 10 posts and then started a thread promoting your product. You've avoided the direct question as whether you stand to profit from Amazon's affiliate program or not. The scepticism can't really surprise you, can it?

The thing is, You missed the point. I never intended to make profit from this app, and just looking for advise to make it better. I'm a developer and I have many other ways to profit an app if I wanted, in right communities or other ways.

Now I've lost my interest in getting any advise here and as this thread goes, I dont see any more reason for this thread even to be existed here.

I'll sent admin a pm to delete/lock this entire post.

I think it's worth discussing.

One thing I'm curious about is whether this app will have an export feature. Like if I wanted to take all the info I've accumulated, would I be able to export it into something on a Mac or PC?
