I'll be picking up the 4K. My son wanted to see it, and I ended up liking it a lot more than i had anticipated.

Definitely will pick this one in 4K but how about 3D? I also want this in 3D.

I too was looking to pre-order a 3-D version. It doesn't appear N.A. is getting one. If that's the case, looks like I'll be importing again.

I can’t be certain, but this lack of 3D in the US seems like a trend.

No 3D? Dying format is dying.

Sony has abandoned the format in the U.S., it seems. I'm legit surprised we got Spider-Man 3D.

Amazon UK has it 3D but not Region Free. Looks like another bummer release where you either have a unlocked Blu Ray to play or hope that someone released it in 3D Region Free at some point...

Is this movie $900 million good? I didn't really want to see it, as it looked very crass and juvenile, but if it was actually a damn good time at the cinema, perhaps I missed out...

Assuming that the international artwork stays the same, the North American artwork is different because of the "need" to sell the film based on marquee names and faces in the US. I'm sure it also doesn't hurt to show off our famously patriarchal puritanical streak and cover up Karen Gillan's bare midsection (and short shorts) either.

However, while Dwayne Johnson probably has some international profile right now, the rest of the cast do not, so internationally, Sony isn't selling the film based on the three male actors, and you get better artwork.

And, I didn't see this before, but obviously, the positioning of the Best Buy Exclusive sticker proves my other point. There were loads of spots to stick it, and notice where it ended up:

It’s funny, cause I bet the front cover of something like Driller Killer sits on a shelf loud and proud. Unsure why young minds need protection from a bit of cleavage and tummy over this.

If you want to laugh (or at least chuckle), go read the Common Sense Media "Parents" reviews for the film here. Bear in mind that the site's official review claims the film is appropriate for those aged 11+. Some of them take it all in stride, but several have been supposedly offended by, well, read this (mild spoilers):

Inappropriate and unnecessary sexual references ruin a fun family film

We took our 14 yr (girl) & 12 yr old (boy) to this film. Both our kids loved the original movie and were excited to see it. As the movie progressed there were many lude jokes and sexual references that were embarrassing to my 14 yr old daughter. Dressing the female character up in a skimpy little outfit and having her use sexually explicit dance moves to manipulate men was so disappointing. We want our children to see strong heroines who use their inner strength, physical strength and their minds - not their body. It was totally unnecessary. Characters made reference to "tapping that" and although my kids didn't know exactly what it meant, they knew it was a sexual reference and not a nice one towards women. We finally left the film when
[Show spoiler]Jack Blacks character (a girl in a mans body) recognized that his penis was aroused because of an interaction with another character. We knew there was a reference to a penis in the movie and thought the scene when this character was taught how to pee like a man was it. Maybe still not a necessary scene but it was funny. But to make reference to sexual arousal was just too overt and too inappropriate
. The common sense media reviews did not prepare us for this. My 14 yr old daughter turned to me and said "Mom. I don't get all this but it is obviously inappropriate and its making me feel uncomfortable. Can we please leave?" So we left the film. Very disappointing that so many sexual references ruined a fun family film.
If that doesn't make you proud to be an American...

good.

One of the better Doctor Who companions of the past decade, Amy Pond. Also plays Nebula in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.

I find it hard to believe a 14 year old didn't understand the jokes... Unless she has been stripped away from all outside human interaction and internet.

I was going to say "Obviously not a Doctor Who fan".
