Disney Ridley Scott in talks for Disney's Merlin Saga

http://collider.com/ridley-scott-merlin-saga-disney/

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/am....co/Nk33NqdLcn

Phillipa Boyens in talks to write. Film(s) would follow the origin of Merlin. Apparently King Arthur: Legend of the Sword doesn't scare Disney.

Didn't I read a recent interview with Scott in which he bashed Disney and/or Lucasfilm when asked if he'd ever direct a Star Wars movie? lol

Although I do wonder if this is part of some new quid pro quo, as in Ridley directs this movie and Disney lets him finish up Alien.

He didn’t bash them, just singled out Kathleen Kennedy.
He said: “I’m too f**king dangerous for Kathleen Kennedy”
Then said she prefers safe stooges

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Can't wait to see Disney be satisfied/regret if this happens.

And if anyone wants something to watch in the meantime, here's a "Best Of" video from the commentary of Scott's Legend.

Is this movie going to be under a terrible smoothing filter like Sword in the Stone?

I dunno who's more insane.

A major studio, for insisting on this Arthurian mythology crap that audiences clearly don't give a **** about, or Scott, for wasting time on it.

Having said that, I'd be down for Scott's first fantasy film in over three decades.

Scott needs Disney right now more than they need him. He should pounce on this while he can.

I wonder if the Fox thing has put a stopper on The Cartel. Variety suggests this might be his next directing gig, but it was just a month or so ago that Scott himself said he'd start shooting The Cartel in February.

I'd be fine with scrapping it altogether. The Cartel is a sequel to The Power of the Dog, the two books combined have more than enough awesome story to power the next great tv epic. Done properly, this is the next Breaking Bad, or The Wire. No way does it need to be crammed into one two or three hour movie.

Because EVERYBODY is interested in King Arthur these days! I mean, Guy Ritchie’s take was the Gone with the Wind of our generation!

I imagine they're more after the Harry Potter crowd than anything else.

To quote Ripley, "Did I.Q.s just drop sharply while I was away?"

Only HALF-A-YEAR since that Guy Ritchie King Arthur movie crashed and bombed, and Disney wants to blow ANOTHER $200 million on subject matter NO ONE wants to see?

There is only ONE movie about King Arthur that people want to see.

I didn't even bother with the last garbage film trying to do a modern twist on King Arthur.
