Default IT - Dolby Vision - AppleTV looks like crud

If you want to watch IT on your Apple TV do yourself a favour and turn off Dolby Vision in your Apple TV settings makes the world of difference.

DV needs to fix up!!

What exactly is the problem? I watched "It" the other night and it looked fine.

I watched it & it looked great in DV.

The sound doesn’t come anywhere near the Atmos soundtrack on the UHD though.

I was running this on a Vizio P Series. The dark scenes showed elevated black levels, and really bad banding.

It could be a hardware issue. When I disabled DV on the Apple TV settings and played the movie in HDR10, it looked much better.

The one scene where the elevated black levels and banding was very apparent was the scene at the beginning where Pennywise is speaking to the boy from the sewer.

Fine for me too, are you running default settings on the tv for the DV preset? Are other DV movies with dark scenes the same or just this?

Sounds like a panel or settings issue IMO. It looked good to me on my B7A.

I haven't had any issues with the Apple 4k TV and DV... I would try to adjust the settings on your TV for DV to see if that helps. If it doesn't, at least you can rely on the HDR 10 to make it look better as you stated.
