California's "monster storm" - Blu-ray Forum

hey guys. as most of you know, CA has been getting hammered by a huge storm. i live in south lake tahoe, and we have been getting blasted with snow. in some places, we have in excess of 8 feet. i have never seen anything like this. it's absolutely amazing. here's some pics. as you can see, the snow goes over my fence in some places and our "snow walls" in the driveway are taller than my roommates car. i'm surprised i have power and internet...

Never seen snow in me life, sadly/gladly. Not too fond of cold weather,

the hardest part has been keeping up with the shoveling and such. we have pretty much given up on the back deck (ihave my own problems with heavy snowand a shovel) but been snow blowing pretty consistently. Every two hrs or so, you just do it. the plus is, with a roommate, your turn is every four hours or so.

sd hasn't been to bad. I got pounded by rain yesterday when I went in for som overtime. that sucked. but after that its just been drizzle. which was kind of a let down. friday night I smoked a cigar on my patio when it was just starting to drizzle before the worst of the storm moved through. I feel bad for norcal* folks. you guys are troopers.

*everything north of la is norcal to me

Wow, that's like Buffalo or like winters in Quebec in my youth.

Gotta admit though, it looks beautiful. That would have been perfect for Xmas day.

Damn dude! That's insane! I live in upstate NY, about 90 miles east of Buffalo, and that's the type of stuff we are used to see 3 or 4 times a winter, since we are in the "snow belt", but that is crazy! You could dig tunnels under the snow!

yeah, i think the snowfall has been ~8 feet or so. kind of hard to tell with compression, shoveling, blowing, etc.

it's beautiful but crazy

We drove through a storm like in the 80s. The highway patrol was making everyone put chains on their tires. My Dad said: "We're from North Dakota, we don't need no damn chains!", laughed, and drove off.

The first few inches and first storm are nice, but than when you have to remove all of that snow it starts losing it appeal as well as everybody changes and gets angry very quickly. I don't miss that snow at all.
