Definitely a day one buy, but I wish they'd just stop screwing around and release all of Kubrick's WB films on UHD. I'd pay full MSRP for that.

Holy crap imagine the HDR on this... a 70mm film print!!! 4K Digital Intermediate, Dolby Atmos, Maybe Dolby Vision??

Not sure the last time the OCN was scanned, hoping it was at 8K like some of the other major films WBHV has released like Ben Hur and GWTW.

Also hopeful Dolby Vision gets used on this release. But WB has less than 5 DV releases to their name at this time I think.

Sweet. I've seen this in 70mm and it's just awesome. Miles ahead of the BD. This is going to be fun.

The article mentions a rumored March or April release. Many of the catalog titles from Warner so far have had longer pre-order periods. It would be quite surprising for them to have held out this long without previously announcing a new scan/restoration of such an esteemed film. I'd much prefer the earlier release window!

I'll echo the other sentiments that this had best be from a full 65mm restoration with 12 bit Dolby Vision.

I doubt we'll get Atmos unless the Kubrick estate insisted. WB rarely does immersive remixes... unlike Sony.

Release date in Sweden and Finland is 3. of april which would go nicely with theatrically debut.

This is awesome and exciting news.

2001 is my favorite Kubrick film and I can only imagine how great this would look in 4k!

In all honesty, I think the standard BD looks great, though a 4k upgrade of this will surely be a real treat if handled with care and done properly. I'll be excitedly awaiting this release, to be sure.
