Default Samsung Bd-P1500 & UP5500

http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/06/s...-combo-player/

There are several new 1.1 BD players announced today, Panasonic BD50, Philips BDP7200, Sharp BD50U and Samsung BD-P-1500 & UP5500. The Samsung BF-P-1500 is priced at $399. It is a great price for the values.

While the war-ending news have been overwhelming, it's these hardware options that really show the diversity and choice BD offers.

I'm trying to keep up with them, although we'll have plenty of time to cherry pick them over the coming months, at leisure. So far, I'm leaning toward the Panny.

EDIT: Of course, full DTS-HD MA ability at a SRP of $399 is no mean thing! Coming in May.

It's still a Samsung, though...

The 1400 already ave DTS HD MA. The 1500 is the exact same model (Bitstream only) with profile 1.1

Altought, Pioneer just announced a new HDMI 1.3 (DTS HD MA, TRUEHD) Receiver for 599$... it's getting cheaper and cheaper..

$599 for a dual-format player. That would have been very interesting without the Warner announcement.

From German site areadvd:

The BD-P1500 will be available in April, price 400 euros.

In combo news: the UP5000 will not be marketed in Germany. No information was given regarding the UP5500.
