USA Genesis: Part 1 - Paradise Lost (2017) Blu-ray 3D [Region Free]

I created a thread for this movie in the standard Blu-ray section of the forum. However since it includes a Blu-ray 3D in the 4 disc package, I am also posting a link to the official forum below.

Caught this at the theater. It’s probably the only Fathom Events to have offered 3D screenings.

Really, I just wanted to check out the 3D. While I certainly believe in God, I usually avoid Christian based films.

Anyways, I remember the 3D looking pretty good during the CG animation sequences. The documentary interweaves interviews with Christian scientists. Those interview parts looked flat.

I can see people being turned off by the bible-thumping beliefs espoused during the film. But it’s not all bad. The scientists presented in the film do appear to be legitimate scientists with high intelligence. And a few of the arguments that they make in favor of Creation are pretty good. It’s a one-sided affair with only Creation believers being interviewed. Those who favor Evolution were not presented in the film.

In conclusion, I do think it’s worth checking out for the cool 3D visuals. Some might find the Creation vs Evolution debate also interesting and at various times, it is thought-provoking. And most people, should be able to stomach the religious banter.

Default Genesis: Paradise Lost 3d

Anyone seen where to buy this feature from a large scale distributor?

I am not trying to get into a religious argument but some of the pictures on the back of the 3d case look wild, such as the man petting the dinosaur. Might be interesting in 3d. Just not sure if by showing these things the writers hurt their argument rather than help it.

Hopefully we can stay on topic about the movie itself and its 3d properties, etc. and not our beliefs.

Actually the only time religion/beliefs are allowed to be discussed is when it's the main topic of a movie. I see no need for it to be skirted around if it's relevant.

Yeah, feel free. From the Forum Rules:

"You are only allowed to discuss religion and politics when it is the main topic of a specific movie. Keep in mind that all people are different and have different beliefs, so be respectful to each other. Stay on topic and make sure what you say is directly related to the movie."

Actually there were two other Fathom Events that had 3D, Doctor Who.

I have day of the doctor 3D but I didn't know there was another one. Ill have to look for it.

As for the movie in question, Id watch it even though I know there is no God and I'm against buying into made up things, I still find it interesting.

Dark Water / Death In Heaven also explores a few religious ideas (it will put you off cremation for sure!) but is an unimpressive conversion so looks nowhere near as good as Day Of The Doctor. I'm glad I didn't pay much for it.

As for Genesis: Paradise Lost, I'd watch it because I'd watch anything in 3D, but with reviews like “My husband entered the theater an evolutionist and left a creationist!” it's bound to be offensive (as in offends my intelligence) garbage and I couldn't care less about any of the bonus discs or special features so would not want to pay a lot for it. Cheap enough though, hell yeah I'm game for a laugh!

I watch these because it gives insight into the indoctrination of religious people. How they think, how they dont think and so on.

Its interesting to watch debates between religious people and atheists. I find religious people bend reality to fit their version of the world , while atheists just conform to the realities of proven science.

There is a valid argument that religion helps people through hard times, but i think it just frees people from responsibility which is actually harmful.

It also creates a culture of accepting lies that suit your narrative and dismissing anything that goes against it.

Anyway , i dont want to go off topic.

To flip that on its head, indoctrination can go in both directions including for those who definitively claim there is no God. Also, all manners of behaviors can be justified based on one's worldview (I.e. if one accidentally descended from an ape, what's the point in living a purposeful existence or one with any principles or one that doesn't respect life and/or fellow man?). And then there's the fact that the most altruistic/charitable people are those with deeply held religious beliefs (forget these mega churches).

In any case, actual scientists in these organizations (some of whom come from evolutionary backgrounds) contributed to these videos, and they've simply reached some conclusions that put them at odds with the consensus (which is also not unprecedented in science). Yes, they've also experienced a conversion of faith, which you could claim clouds their perspective.

First of all most people who are atheist are not indoctrinated into that belief. Atheist tend to make up their own minds and aren't easily persuaded by indoctrination. Most people who are religious are taught religion from a young age. If I was indoctrinated at a young age by my parents , id probably believe as well, at least until I was older and was able to see the world for myself and make my own conclusions. Or not.

I have heard this argument before: what then is the point of living a purposeful existence/ where do you get your morals....

The truth is there might not be a purpose to life. That scares a lot of people into wanting to beleive in god so that they feel there IS purpose.

I didnt need to be scared into being a moral person by threat of burning for eternity. I have empathy which in turn makes me not want to hurt others, makes me like to help others and life is more fun being happy living and let live. I didnt need a made up character to teach me this.

Most wars and mass murders are committed in the name of one god or another.

Its not a fact that the most charitable people are religious. Bill gates isnt religious and he donates millions of dollars yearly to all kinds of causes. Elon Musk isnt religious but he spends his time trying to advance technology and exploration .

Why is it many child molesters are preists? If those people actually beleived in god, they wouldnt commit those crimes, yet they still do at an alarming rate.

science is based on theories , and things that can be tested. Nothing relating to god can be tested. Why is it that in the times of the bible there was parting of the sea, and different magical things happening, angels and demons and so on, yet none of that exists today? Because its a story. there is moreevidence that would say you cant split the sea, and that you cant have a talking snake. for instance they dont have a brain capable of learning language nor do they have a voice box.

Why is it when a person kills someone and claims god told him to , no one, not even religious people beleive him or her? because deep down we know the story of god is ridiculous.

If people REALLY beleived in god, they would follow the bible to the word , and not work sundays and not get tattoos and so on and so forth. The fact that no one lives by the book but cherry picks what to take from the bible and what not to, shows no one REALLY beleives.

That top link didn’t work for me. Where can I pre-order it?

I am a Christian but generally avoid Christian music and movies because they’re generally so terrible. I am hesitant to get this but with a 3D Blu-ray Disc I’m going to buy it and hope for the best ( and my parents will probably love it). The Bible, to me, is guidebook to living a meaningful life. Those who take it LITERAL, word by word, get under my skin.

If it’s about a Flat Earther who found a piece of “the firmament” in his back yard and shows the piece of glass in 3D to prove that all of NASA is a conspiracy to kill God and claims the Earth is only a few thousand years old I might vomit and ruin un my new flooring.
