I understand that when family sharing is set up, the invited members use the organizer's payment option when they make purchases. Is there away to stop this so that each member uses whatever the payment option is set up on their respective itunes accounts?

Thanks for the information!
It's really dumb the way they have it. If an iTunes account has credit card set up then why would they insist on the organizer to pay. So if purchase sharing is turned off then the other members can't purchase anything even if they have a cc setup on their account? |

Probably because in most cases Family Sharing is exactly that, 2 parents and up to 4 kids within the one household which the parent is in charge of the payment. Yes I do agree there should be an option to chose where an individuals payment comes from, though I guess it’s to prevent people using Family Sharing with just anyone other than a family household. |

For the 3 groups I am a part of the organizer generally uses a CC with a minimal balance available. I personally try to use pre-paid cards that I get from promotions that have a small amount of funds on them. An additional advantage to pre-paid cards is you can use a different ZIP than your physical address.
I've been a part of groups since day one and I think the number of times someone has accidentally hit my card has been 2-3 times and the member always made it right. We all buy/use iTunes GC to fund our purchases which are commonly available at 5%-20% discount off of their face value...saving money. |

For our family shares we have an iMessage group setup to talk to one another, and the verification code for the CC is listed right in the subject/title of the iMessage group. ![]() |

I see, so it will still use my credit but still wants the organizer's CC code. It boggles the mind how itunes makes these type requirements. I mean I want to use MY credit but need the "permission" of the Organizer to do so, I don't see the security aspect of it.
Thanks for clarifying AZB! |

They know that some will abuse the promotion so as to have access to far more Movies, TV Shows, Music and Apps than what they’ve actually paid to use so will have things in place to make things as awkward as possible for those not actually within a family unit. |
