All the reviews from ESC made by dvdclassik.com says that the french subs aren't forced on english tracks. Always region b locked.

Just came through the door. Popped it in to check. Menu options are very limited and only give the option of French or English with subtitles which panicked me slightly but all I had to do to combat this was turn them off from my remote. There is no menu option to disable them on the Blu-ray.
On first glance the PQ is looking pretty decent but with some obvious film scratches and damage. All extras are in French and don't have any original English ones from the DVD release. It also comes with a really cool glow in the dark slip. Last edited by CamzoOG; 04-30-2018 at 02:15 PM. |

Great movie and pressing, love the slipcover. A/V decent it's not like it has a 4K restoration job done but it looks fine. It plays in the Panasonic UB900 player if you load disc, press stop, and top menu. You have to change audio to english and turn off French subs. It is region B locked. I could never get my hands on the other imports released that are now OOP, so cannot compare video quality. It's worth it despite being region B locked which sucks since this is such a nice pressing.
Hope they use this artwork if it ever gets a USA Blu-ray release. |

I find the picture quality to be very good. It has a very organic look. It looks kind of soft, but I'm sure that is because of the cinematography, the same way Criterion's release of Punch Drunk Love is soft.
There are three extras, but if you don't speak french, they are useless except for the few instances where they interview someone who speaks English. Amazing cover though, definitely one of my favorite slipcovers! ![]() |

I agree on the picture quality, it looks filmic. Mostly it's an English-friendly print, but there's one instance closer to the end, where a French subtitle appears. Didn't have to time to google-translate it though, so can't tell what it means

This movie would have been SO MUCH better if Jim Carey (and Paul Giamatti) STAYED IN CHARACTER as Tony Clifton.
FORGET "Man on the Moon"; give us two hours of TONY CLIFTON. |
