Here’s the kicker: We’ve also now confirmed that Paramount is going to be releasing all five of the classic Jack Ryan/Tom Clancy films in 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in 2018, as part of their promotional support for Amazon’s new Jack Ryan TV series (set to debut on Amazon Prime in August). So look for The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, The Sum of All Fears, and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit all to be spinning in your 4K players before the end of the year.

The floodgates are open. Time to unload the lots of major studio BDs? Seems like everything is coming.

Just The Hunt for Red October for me. Might pick up the rest later. Catalog movies in 4k are coming fast and furious so time for me to budget accordingly.

Come on, the two Ford ones are pretty good on their own merits.

I'm expecting this to just be a bit more resolution overall and less compression artifacts in the underwater scenes compared to the ancient bluray.

Clear and Present Danger is decent. Patriot Games is dullsville, IMO.

I loved PATRIOT GAMES... ever since I saw it in the theater... surprised that someone would think it's boring.

I may be the only one. For me, it's a snoozer, though. It's just so simple and straightforward, I can't bring myself to care about anything that happens in it.

So happy for this release.

But god damn it, Paramount. Give us a UHD release for the first Jack Reacher already.

I'm in for Red October.

The Navy gets movies on blu-ray for a limited time. After a year or six months or whatever the disc won't play. We (I'm in the Navy) play these in our small fitness center on base. For some reason, we got Hunt for Red October. I mean, I know it's a war movie and it involves the Navy so it's not completely out of the question. But it's 28 years old.

It's apparently a favorite as I've seen bits and pieces of it three times in the past two months. Maybe because (in addition to being good and Navy) it involves instantly recognizable actors. I also got to see The Greatest Showman before release, too. So that's nice.

They could just go ahead and add it to these and call it "The Jack R. Collection".
