Is Universal gonna do a US release? Or is this gonna be one of those wonky Euro releases a la Iron Man 1 and 2?

I can definitely see Universal doing it since it’s part of their 100th collection. This could and SHOULD look fantastic on this format. All the locations and one of the finest DP’s.

The blu looked really good, so unless this gets a really nice DV/ Atmos update on a true 4k remaster i would likely pass.

I think the Blu-ray looks pretty rough. The UK disc is better than the US but not by much. If this is a proper 4K transfer then I'm all in but it's StudioCanal so....

I remember the BD looking OK, but it was years ago. I owned this very briefly but sold it because I dunno if I could ever sit through this movie again. It's amazing, don't get me wrong. But it's a tough one.

This movie's had a problematic relationship with home media releases, here's hoping they can do this one better on UHD. Great, classic film.

Never seen this one and thought about blind buying it numerous times. Now I have a reason. Here's hoping it's a great transfer!

I said the exact same thing to a friend. We always use this as a refernce to our lack of attention span as we creep into our late 30’s. It’s definitely not a movie I will be watching frequently but I can’t pass it up.

I'm down, providing it is well-reviewed here... in this thread.

Before anyone gets too excited, Fnac is listing this as a "Combo Blu-ray DVD", and Cultura.fr says it is merely a "Coffret Collector".

Obviously, it's early days yet, but Amazon France are not always reliable regarding formats, and sometimes they put up Blu-ray listings only to take them down, so cross your fingers.

Hopefully, we will see an official announcement from Canal soon, or information will be posted on the German branch's web site.

Yup; Amazon.fr have removed the reference to '4k UHD'.

Jut waiting to see if I need to get a UHD, or the British collector's edition to replace my US edition. Amazon US listings go through changes like this often enough for upcoming releases, and I doubt this is any different.

I anticipate a UHD announcement soonish.

Meanwhile, I will only buy it if it remains unmolested.

Is the British release the latest region free release that came out not too long ago? The review for the region free release stated that the video is a little problematic but better than the US release. I just watched the US release recently and honestly think it looks pretty solid.

This one: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-D...-Blu-ray/5813/

I think overall it's better than the US release (which I also thought/think looks solid). See the explosions, and the uniforms:

Anyone know if the US release is over-saturated?

Yeah that's the one, thanks!

Its a tough call IMO especially with the apparent messed up 5.1 audio track. I'm thinking I'll just stick with the US for now.
