I thought the first one had not aged well last time I saw it couple of years ago. I also watched the second one right after that, and I seemed to enjoy it more than when it came out. That scene in which Lawrence has taken X, and then the captain comes along really cracked me up. One of the few actual funny scenes in the movie.

But these will sure look great on UHD, the second one especially I think.

Take 45 minutes out of Bad Boys II and it'd be fine, but unfortunately you'd be cutting out all the hilariously offensive and totally-irrelevant-to-the-plot stuff. That movie is peak Michael Bay, for better or worse.

I'm no Bay hater, look at my collection: it's filled with Bayhem. And if you were to split the comedy and the action of BBII into separate films I'd probably love the hell out of both of them. But with the two mashed together it's an unholy mess, the endless Scary Movie-esque comedy skits clashing hard with the po-faced "shit's about to get real" nature of the serious bits. The first film blends those two aspects together in a competely organic way, it usually means something to the story whereas here it just feels like Bay's having a wank for 2½ excruciating hours. Was not impressed with the big Cuba escape scene ripping off Police Story's shanty chase either, i.e. I made it through the preceding couple of hours only to be faced with a near shot-for-shot knock off of something Jackie Chan did so much better 40 ****ing years ago. Pffffft.
