Default No cover art "swoosh" on new Buena Vista titles?

Hi

Have they taken the swoosh off permanently or is it just me?

Cheers

The Rock and Con Air still have it, but those are postponed releases and they probably didn't want to bother changing the covers.

Hopefully the swoosh is gone for good, otherwise.

Pardon my ignorance but what is a "Swoosh?"

When half the cover was populated with a standard swoosh graphic.
It had a metalic foil look to it.

Pretty nice at first but it covered up the nice cover art.

Looked like this:

I don't know if it is gone yet because I have seen cover art for new titles coming out that still has the swoosh on it.

3:10 to Yuma has the Swoosh...the 1080p/Beyond High definition Swoosh in silver metallic.

If the swoosh in printed in metallic ink, that would most likely be printed as a 5th color, where most printing is done with 4 colors. A company that wanted to save money on printing would drop the 5th color.

I rather hate that swoosh.

Almost as much as I hate it when 90% of the text on the back is taken up by what Blu-Ray is. It annoyed me when the early DVDs did the same thing two (about as much as when they really really stretched for extra features to make it sound falsely impressive -- like "Interactive Menus").

There is no special ink. It's the paper that's special.

Probably there to help consumers distinguish the DVD version from the BD version. I haven't looked at a DVD cover in a while so I'm not sure if they have that as well.

In addition to the swooshes disappearing along with the swoosh equivalent of other studios (like the black bar on the bottom of Fox releases), is there any chance of the Blu boxes being replaces by more generic black boxes that dont distinguish format? I honestly feel the blue cases were a way to prevent consumers from getting confused with HD DVDs.

Okay, I love Blu-ray...but is this thread really necessary. We're *****ing about the cover of the movies having a swoosh..... Get over it people. These message boards are getting ridiculous. Talk about something important like the next studio thats going BLU or if you want plain covers...go to HD-DUD and die slowly with them.

I also love the blue cases. They distinguish themselves apart form my existing DVD collection on my media rack. I would like to think that the blue cases are here to stay even after HD-DUD is dead and buried.

I think they disappeared starting with the Cars and Ratatouile releases, but the 3:10 has it again apparently (though much more subtle and only at the top and bottom instead of the whole right side).

Really? You are going to be that harsh to someone for stating their opinion? That to me sounds like something we would hear from a HD-DUD fanboy. Ease up, huh?

And the swoosh does take away form the cover art. Period. It can go away now.
