Watched both Kick Ass & Kick-Ass 2 this week (KA2 for the first time since I saw it in theaters.) Loved the first Kick-Ass, Big Daddy IMO, is a role that Nicholas Cage was born to play and he hit a grand slam. Kick-Ass 2 is still a piece of trash 5 years later.

Kick-Ass was so ahead of its time. Would have been a huge hit if it released today.

But remakes, sequels, reboots, prequels, film universes, franchises and whatever, that's the stuff that makes money in Hollywood. If it doesn't, that's what Hollywood usually wants to spend their money on. It's some kind of vicious circle for the moment and for the future. But there are films outside of Hollywood at least.

Ugh. Why? But isn't this more like just another sequel where a different guy takes over the role of KA? Just like is planned for the comics?

Loved the first one, second part was 'OK'. Both Nicolas Cage and Jim Carrey were absolutely terrific in these!

Yeah, I don't think "reboot" means what they are thinking it means. Unless they changed the definition of "reboot" in the past couple months.

They really should have just said it's a new film in the Kick-Ass universe. Reboot carries too much negative connotations.

Same thing I was going to say. Such a wide world, could have been a different character inspired by Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl. In fact, give me a Hit-Girl spinoff movie now!

Remakes have been a thing since the 1930s. Some of them are the most influential movies ever made. They are a staple of Hollywood and they are never going away.

He also mentions here that they have FOUR more Kingsman projects coming: Kingsman 3, a prequel (The Great Game) which will film with part 3, a Statesman spinoff, and an 8 hour miniseries.
