International titles that are unavailable in the U.S. will also be listed here. The availability of English subtitles will also be noted when possible. If the native language of a given title is not English it will be noted in the audio notation for the entry. Notations for best PQ and/or AQ will be in bold. A line through a release means it is out of print. All UHDs are region free.

There's much better compression on the DE UHD: http://www.caps-a-holic.com/c.php?d1...0&a=1&go=0&l=1 Additionally, my lists are not based on opinions. All UHDs are region free as posted in the OP. I think they learned something from HD DVD.

This seems less necessary than the Blu-ray comparison thread especially given that so many releases are indentical worldwide. However, I guess it’s an interesting thing to compare.

There may be some facts involved, but declaring that image quality in one release is better than another is an opinion. If informed viewers are generally finding this German release to look better when viewing it (not pixel peeping or with screen grabs), then I'm inclined to check it out for myself.

I also compared The Hunger Games at caps and I'd pick the Lionsgate, because the StudioCanal is ever so slightly more soft imo. So there's that. (Having said that, I honestly think that except for some imo rather minor encoding differences both look basically identical.)

You'll notice there is a slight bit of aliasing on the US disc, which is not present on the DE disc. There's also more macroblocking on the US disc.

So there's that. (Having said that, I honestly think that except for some imo rather minor encoding differences both look basically identical.)
