Better 4K image from streaming than my BD player -- is this possible?

Does anyone have a similar experience?

It seems like I'm getting better, sharper detailed picture when streaming 4K content to my TV versus my 4K BD's.

I've had an LG 4K 60" TV and the Sony UBP-X800 for all of a month now, and watched 4K BD's such as: Inception, Terminator 2, Deadpool, and The Matrix.

The BD's look good -- some scenes are really sharp and detailed -- but when I stream for example, Bosch from Amazon Prime in 4K, or something from Netflix, it looks consistently sharper from scene to scene and to my eyes anyway, like "real 4K". With the BD's, some shots are great and others aren't very crisp, especially compared to the streaming examples.

Is there some basic adjustment I need to make? Or is just that the streaming shows are newer and shot in and finished in 4K and therefore just look better, even though they're streamed?

Do you have deep color enabled for your HDMI ports to support deep color (HDR10)?

LG refers to this setting as HDMI ULTRA HD Deep Color, and it is typically found in the LG menu under All Settings / General / HDMI ULTRA HD Deep Color. Please ensure that this is set to On for the HDMI input your OPPO player is connected to.

Not everything is going to blow your tits off. When I saw the thread title I thought you were comparing the streaming versions of movies to their 4K BD counterparts but you're talking about comparing different content entirely, so it's kinda apples and oranges.

Most content created for the streaming services is shot and finished in 4K, whereas 3 out of 4 of the movies you mentioned were shot on film which isn't going to look as superficially crisp and clean as those streams. It then doesn't help that T2 has been smashed with noise reduction, and Inception to a lesser extent, and although Deadpool was shot digital it was finished in 4K from a 3.4K original.

That makes sense. I was expecting a more pronounced uptick in resolution, but it’s not always there on 4K Blu-rays.

The colors though, are amazing. HDR is great.

What's your internet connectivity speed?

Faster is always better, and is crucial for optimum 4K streaming media. 100-base-T ethernet should be used at minimum.
