Most years were 5 hrs. The Q&A after each speaker and each picture catagory voting session and at the end of the event makes up some time variation.

We're starting at 11am with a meet and greet brunch that includes the press, our presenters, our panel of expert judges and the attendees. The actual TV Shootout starts at 12 noon and should conclude around 5pm when we tabulate the ballots in front of all attendees and the cameras on our Worldwide webcast. So the winner(s) with all of the voting results by category will be announced live at the conclusion of the TV Shootout.

Yes, we're webcasting this year's TV Shootout. Likely Youtube live, but no final decision on the streaming carrier at this moment.

Since you are in LI I'd love for you to join is in person if your time permits.

The Vizio P Quantum is giving the Q9FN a run for its money so why would you scoff at it like that?

Looking forward to it as I realize how much work it takes to make this happen. Good speaker list and nice touch with the drinks and snacks.

Still coming or not? The visible blue light exposure topic should be a concern to all your attendees who are heavy screen watchers.

Robert do you allow the manufacturer's representatives to "fine tune" their sets to obtain optimal performance?

Not worried about "Blue Light" as we're not using cell phones or tablets. Don't think much of the audience are heavy tablet/cell phone users either and if they are I would hope many select the "Blue Light Filter" like I did on my Samsung Note 8.

These are the state-of-the-art in large screen displays that are all set at the proper white point for a good natural life like accurate CMS at all luminance levels.

Manufacturers are invited for a very brief pre-TV Shootout meeting at our showroom. No one is permitted to touch the TV or any remote other than one of our three official calibrators and with the permission of all three calibrators.

I wasn’t referring to TVs and the new blue light issue concerns, I was referring more to the idea that many of your attendees (to the streaming of the event as well as those physically present) might be spending a considerable amount of their life in front of phones, laptops and desktop computers. Heck, aside from that required by our/their jobs, just look at all the folks who post on active threads on the internet. Those posts aren’t coming thru vis-à-vis their telekinesis ability. Anyway, contributing something about the blue light issue was simply a recommended topic to add to from what I thought would be his/her primary presentation which you mentioned - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...t#post15199881

Would have liked to have heard his/her thoughts on this too ^ since so much of what is written by the lay press is either superficial or outright inaccurate to some degree. If he/she declined the invitation to present, I wouldn’t take it personally because unless it was his/her day off, around here (and I presume it’s similar in your neck of the woods) the average salary of ophthalmologists runs right around $300,000/year, not including non-disclosed consultation work for various companies which can be quite substantial. So, getting anyone in this field to devote their time at the shootout is a big ask in the first place.

On a lighter note, not worrying about potential deleterious effects to one’s vision, the TWICE article and “King of TV” reminded me of a blast from the past, locally. PeterTHX, you around?
Remember Paul’s TV (“I am the King”) classic commercials? (see thee insert at the end)

P.S.
Robert, one of the best things I find with your event is that it is free ! Contrast that with the fee for this conference….. http://www.displaysummit.com/2018_di...mmit/register/

and others.

And over the years I think its accurate to say that your event (which includes the shootout as well as presentations by guest speakers, the later being which I personally prefer because you generally can’t go wrong with any of the contenders and the ‘winner’ for one person’s taste (OLED vs. LCD) and use case may be different than another viewer)…..the Value Electronics event has evolved into the de facto standard for TV shootouts.

Glad to see the other format is back. Audience votes are fine, but I generally buy related to calibrator opinion.

I wanted properly calibrated displays up against each other in several tests, and a calibrator vote on each.

Robert, hearing you're going to have 75 and 65" versions of both the Q9 and Z9F, is that true? I think that is a great idea if true since those sizes may perform differently and would give prospective buyers a different point of view on if a 75" lcd would suit them better over a 65" oled if that's their dilemma.
