They hinted at it on their FB page, I believe yesterday. They said it's a new 4K scan. It should look great.

Hopefully it won't have Severin's usual rubbish encoding

Even if the encoding is not great, I'll definitely grab this new one since the Shameless release is extremely terrible.
Well, there's no option for this title anymore.

How have their last few releases, the ones with new transfers, been? I haven't followed the threads closely since I wasn't that interested in buying any of them, but weren't the issues just with encoding instead of the actual restorations? The last disc of their's that I actually put in the player and watched (I have a few sitting in my massive "watch" pile) was Nightmare Castle!! I saw that The Changeling had issues compared to the Arrow one, of course. Is there any hope for this, or are we going to get both a bad transfer and a bad encode?

Well, it's going to be a long shot. It appears the same LVR noisy master as the German release but the encode on the Shameless is simply a joke compared to German's. Actually, both are terrible but Shameless is even worse.

From what I've seen their some recent titles, Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals, After Death and Shocking Dark, for instance, there's no problems with the encodes and I'm happy with them. Zombi 3 is meh, though.

Wasn't this the film that received a single DVD release years ago that went OOP and was going for crazy money?

It's not the worst but definitely not my first choice. I'll be buying this no matter what though. Do you think they got The Strange Vice of Mrs Wardh as well?

I don't think so? I got the DVD a couple years ago when there were no blu-ray releases and "only" paid about 25-30 bucks used in great condition. Maybe that's crazy by your definition though, IDK.

The Changeling has a better encode than the Second Sight/UK release. The issues with the Severin Blu that aren't on the Second Sight release are a skipped frame and missing audio on the remixed track (I believe the original audio mix is fine)

Whoops, Second Sight. Shows how closely I was following news on that movie X_X

Thanks, this is somewhat reassuring. I had a bunch of their older releases and they weren't very good, but based on what I was seeing in thread titles and OPs it looked like they were putting a lot more effort in in the last year or two.

Zombie 3 has terrible compression. They put minimal effort into their release of The Devil's Honey, looks like no color correction, bad compression. A big meh for that release, but the movie is awesome and it's the only bluray of it so I bought it.

As for this DVD, I was looking at buying it a few months before Shameless put out the bluray, it was running for $50-$90 on ebay. Same with Strange Vice of Mrs Wardh. I'm sure they have come down since the bluray releases though.

From the US Arrow thread :

These are all in print from Shameless in the UK. Looks like Arrow had a chance to scoop up the major Martino giallos but for the US only.

I really hope this becomes reality sooner rather than later

Severin is a mixed bag, they clearly love the films they put out, but sometimes you get an excellent encode and sometimes it has compression problems. If they stick with the encoder for The Changeling (and if I recall The Devil's Rain looks quite good as well) they shouldn't have any problems.
