Default Blu-ray research question..

I am a bit of a noob here. As I was saying in a previous thread, I've been an HD DVD supporter, but as the writing is on the wall, I figured, if you can't beat 'em.. join 'em

I'm thinking I'm going to be waiting for the Panasonic DMP-BD50, as it seems to be the first Blu-ray player that has the online functionality that I enjoy so much with HDDVD, and I don't want a PS3. So I'm not ready to jump yet I don't think. But I was strolling the aisles of Circuit City tonight, and was curious about the terminology on some of the Blu-ray titles. It states on many of them, that they include something to teh effect of PCM Lossless. I guess I'm confused by that. I have an Onkyo TX-SR805 A/V receiver hooked up to some Paradigms. Currently my HDDVD player is hooked by HDMI and it does the decoding of TrueHD and sends the signal PCM to my A/V receiver to be amplified. What exactly is the difference between PCM lossless on Blu-ray, and what would be lossless TrueHD and DTS-HD MA as decoded by the player, or by the A/V receiver for a signal sent bitstream?

thanks in advance..

Uncompressed PCM is the studio master.

It is then either left as Uncompressed (and loaded onto a Bluray), or it is encoded into Dolby TrueHD or Dts-HD Master (Lossless compression) onto Bluray which saves space, but is still bit-for-bit identical to the studio master.

When you "decode" Dolby TrueHD or Dts-HD Master (in the player or receiver), it is then converted back into its original PCM state.

So in essence, Uncompressed PCM is studio master but takes up great amount of space...TrueHD and Master, are compressed versions of PCM to save space.

Okay, I think I get it. Ultimately it doesn't matter at all sound wise.
