Question Is a "sparkly" pattern normal on certain disc labels?

Hi, I have a PS4 game and I noticed a "sparkly" pattern on the the label side when shining light onto it. It's a "new" (as in opened and gutted) game from GameStop and it runs perfectly fine for the most part. Would this be anything to worry about? Could this be damage or is this just be the way the disc was printed? For context, the game was GTA 5 and your typical copy of the game looks like this. Again, it works fine and this issue is only noticeable with light shined over the disc label. m_5ab01e5d3afbbd96cc510f33.jpg

Well, I don't have a PS4. But I pulled out my copy of Smash Bros U and when you tilt it in the light, it doesn't sparkle but you can see that the paint on the label makes the surface kind of pitted. It's as if you had one of those paint samples from Lowes and it was a matte finish. Maybe the finish from your disc just makes it sparkle?

It's just the press coating - it's fine.

i guess what bothes me was the fact that i coukd see light through the "sparkles", making me paranoid about the label possibly being worn down (especially since I got this copy "gamestop new" and not "new")

Grab a Universal or WB blu-ray (these two tend to have the least amount of text on the label) and hold it up to the light. Being able to see through the label printing is 100% normal.

Yes, but the fact that I can see bright light through these "sparkles" (akin to the infamous "pinholes" you can get from scratching label side) is what bothers me and concerns me

Sparkly on the label side, I wouldn't worry too much.

So, these sparkles are "different" from signs of damage?

Looks like the way it was printed, but it won't affect playback.

If only there was a way to look at a similarly "sparkly" disc for comparison. I guess I'll just take you guys' word for it

Different manufacturers use different printing methods, sometimes it's a artistic thing other times it's cost.

If you look at your Blu-rays you'll find lots of different kinds.

Ah okay, I guess I just assumed it was uniform for consoles. Then again, as shown by this 105GB stuff with RDR2, Rockstar loves being "special"
