Default Does your Walmart do this?

The Walmart close to our place displays their BD movies on an empty Standard DVD case w/ crappy copy of the front cover, the small section of the isle is also all the way at the back and facing backward, you can see about 24 BD and about 8 HD DVD titles (all empty cases). Last weekend I ask a clerk to get me a copy of 300 and Ratatouille (base on the displays they have), so she went to a corner that nobody passes by and unlock a small glass cage where all the Blu-rays and HD DVDs are, all piled up together, after about 20 minutes of digging she couldn't find the copies I ask for. So not only it took me time looking for a clerk to help me but also wasted my time looking for movies that are not available. So again last night me and my family went to the same store (where else would I be at other than the electronics/dvd movies section) and suggested to the two sales associates that they need to put out their BD movies like of those DVD movies. And I ask one of them to unlock the glass cage for me so I my self can dig through the BD movies, lo and behold I found The Rock, 3:10 to Yuma and War that are not even on the display section, which eventually bought all. Sucks being in our Walmart...

The wal mart in my area does the same thing. I wish they had a blu ray rep educate wal mart associates how to set up a blu ray display . The way it should be done. To access all the tittles they have available at their store.

My Wal-Mart pulled all their Blu-rays off the shelf and put them in the back of the store. The electronics manager told me they would be placed back on display as soon as they started selling BD players. Undoubtedly, he is not counting the PS3 as a bluray player. I think he was just tired of explaining to people that BD's will not play on standard DVD players, as he had told me a month prior that they were having several returns due to this fact. I now must drive thirty miles to a Super Wal-mart or Best Buy to get titles on the release date because I am not patient enough to wait for them to be shipped from fry's or Amazon. I enjoy lower costs but sometimes the side effect of poor service can be annoying. That said, I like the low prices too much to change anything.

My walmart has the older blu-rays and hd-dvd on and end cap.
The new release titles they have been putting copies of the cover on a regualr DVD case. You take it to the register and they dig the blu-ray out of a locked case.

They also keep sopranos blu-ray and hd-dvd locked in the game case with all the xbox, playstation and wii stuff.

Afraid of theft I believe

Most of the Walmart stores here have all the high-def movies on one endcap...about 5 columns for Blu-ray, 2 for HD DVD. At least they are on an endcap that faces you when you walk into the electronics dept. They used to be locked up with the PS3 games when they only had about 5 or 6 movies from which to choose, but since their selection has grown a little (and I emphasize 'a little'), they just leave them out.

My Walmart has the Blu in an end cap.

They have great prices and often have hard to find new releases like Resident Evil.

However,... I notice the thing they keep the blu rays in damages the case a little bit near the bottom where it crimps.

Hey,

I don't have a camera phone. I was there to pick up the rock and the racks push new product forward when you take one out. At the front they get crimped very stong and the lower case gets bent and distorted.

As long as it doesn't cause a crack in the case,.. maybe it doesn't matter. I remember taking the copy that look least damaged and I'll check it later to see if it "recovered".

EDIT - I just checked my copy and it looks good as new. Looked pretty badly warped in the store though.

My Wal*Mart had a nice kiosk displaying Blu-ray on a TV as well as HDDVD on the other side, with BD's and HDDVD discs below them. All the sudden I go in one day and see the kiosk is gone I look around and notice they have put all the Blu's in a glass case... it looks so horrible... they just set them in and not even so u can read what titles they have. It's rather annoying having to find a worker to come unlock the case and stand there and wait while you sort through them till you find something you want. I asked why they did this and they said it was because people were taking BD's 5 at a time into the bathroom and taking the discs and leaving the box behind.

That's why I do not patronize WALMART.

They draw in the dregs of society to their stores.

Sorry if my statement offends any of you but life experience is very telling.

I pretty much agree with you. I'm not a big fan of Walmart. Most of my blus come from Amazon, Target, or BB.

little bit of a drive but I would do it rather than shop at wal mart plus the store looks real nice and they have a way bigger selection than any other kind of store. Prices are very good to which is the most important thing.

One Wal-Mart -- the closer and newer one to me -- has the Blu-Ray and HD-DVD (more Blu than HD-DVD) in an unused display case that was NOT meant for putting movies in. They're all unorganized, just stacked there as if it were storage. No wonder they have a huge selection -- it's practically inaccessible.

The older one -- slightly farther, but FAR superior -- has most of them locked in a cabinet with the more expensive box sets. They'll have some of the cheaper $18 releases out of the cabinet. But the cabinet is almost alway empty -- guess people are buying it there instead since they can actually see the titles and make sense of the organization.

Personally, I hate it that they feel the need to lock it up in a cabinet when the Best Buy across the street or the Target around the corner does no such thing.
