MA is now supporting 4K streaming - Blu-ray Forum

The tags for 4K and HDR are now showing on the title page of each movie. This was just updated on the website but haven't seen it yet in the TV apps.

I have Roku Ultra and that MA TV app is showing the 4K/HDR tag for my UHD items. In fact gives me the option to play in UHD (at long last)

I can confirm that it plays at least hdr on apple tv 4k, probably 4k as well, but no dolby vision yet

yeah, I'm getting HDR playback on the Roku Ultra for Universal, Warner, and Disney titles (no DV either). However, Sony titles say "4K" on the movie title page, but will not play in 4K/HDR

here are the list of all 4k ma movies, I don't think there is one movie that's not available in any ma providers

Just checked according to that list above, and actually, those Sony that work 4K/HDR on FandangoNow are working 4K/HDR on MA (EXCEPTION: if you redeemed Sony 4K UV through Sony's site, those are not porting, because they are not porting UHD to Vudu yet).

no, the quality flag is the same as your transaction history.

So, here’s my question, if I buy a movie outright from iTunes (starting today) which gets me 4K on iTunes, will it be 4K on Movies Anywhere?

Is that not a 4k code even though if came from a uhd

Excited to see MA roll out UHD support. This might help for a lot of titles are are not UHD everywhere (yet).

Fox titles from early UHD releases are unfortunately HD only; I think Die Hard was literally the last title Fox released in UHD disc with HD only code. Be sure to check 4ksheet.com for any future redeems to ensure best quality on digital.

Yes, the pattern has been that any title upgraded to UHD in iTunes is also UHD in Movies Anywhere - I don't think there are any exceptions to this provided a title is MA and a new redeem/purchase (new iTunes upgrades to previously owned titles do not port to MA in 4K). Given the spotty availability of UHD titles this would be assuming MA hosts the film in UHD (not sure if MA 100% hosts all UHD encodes/titles). Regardless if a title is UHD in a vendor, like Apple, you have the license for 4K wherever streaming at that quality as available.
