If Cagliostro is anything like the Ghibli/Discotek Blu we should be in good hands. I'm more on the fence about Mamo but let's just hope that the prior TMS UHDs were (unfortunately) isolated cases. I can't say about the subtitles because I'm still rockin' SDR down-conversion with my 4K player.

Cagliostro was Studio Ghilbi's work (with backing by Disney Enterprises Japan) and was reported to be a 8k scan finished on a 4k SDR workflow. Since SG will likely be providing the same elements to TMS/Fox, I say we'll be in good hands unless they decide to botch the HDR conversion somehow.
Space Adventure Cobra and Tomorrow's Joe 2 were solely TMS's doing and are simply upscales from 2k masters with degraining and some cropping, in addition to completely reworked colors for HDR. Mamo is 100% owned by TMS and has a 2k master from their elements, so if that's to go by then we're gonna be in for quite a "treat" if they decide to "remaster" it for a 4k UHD release. |

Hopefully the main Ghibli films on 4K aren’t far behind.

![]() This is Ghibli we are talking about. The JP 4K discs should be able to include lossless Japanese and English audio this time around too. With much higher disc space. They should all be on 100 GB discs. |

I would, but I can't bring myself to pay more than $50 for a film lol It'd be nice if Cinedigm/GKIDS/Shout did 4K but I'd guess they probably won't.

Since the studio who has them in the US doesn’t release on 4K it would probably be years (if ever) for them to release that way here. If it was stil with Disney I’m sure it would be different. But I’ll be importing the JP 4Ks as long as they include English friendly options on the releases whenever it is they start coming out.

I assume you meant dub. It seems that TMS aren’t fond of the Manga dub considering that the Disney Miyazaki Collection Blu and the Fathom events all used the Streamline dub for the English alternative. I don’t blame them though; I’m not a fan of the “new” sound effects.
