LP120 Pream Removal questions.

Hello, posted this in reddit but somehow reading comprehension doesn't matter over there.

I recently purchased a pair of lp120s, one for me and for my lil brother.
I see that there are instructions on how to remove the preamp within, but it seems all the tutorials are based on the older model of the lp120 that has the rca cables attached to the system. The lp120s i picked up have two terminals for the rca's to attach to and this leads me to believe that the turntables received a revision either in the past year or even past months. Has anyone been able to do a preamp removal with these newer models?
Just curious if there are extra steps required since I guess there might have been more changes done under the hood.
