PS3: Can't Toggle "The Predator" Subtitles While Playing Film

Hi guys,

I rented The Predator Blu-ray from Redbox, and the subtitle toggle in the triangle menu is grayed out while playing the film. The only way to turn subtitles on and off is to go to the main menu and toggle it from there.
I noticed that, while the film is playing, if I press square to bring up the pop-up menu, the Setup options are not listed. While I don't remember every standard Blu having setup options in their pop-up menus, most do. I didn't know if this could be a helpful detail.

This is the first time I'm experiencing this with my PS3. Even after updating, it still doesn't work.

While I am future-proofing my collection, I don't yet have the funds to upgrade, and this gives me fears that it has something to do with compatibility. Any ideas/suggestions?

I bought the movie on day 1. The subtitles must be selected from the menu and won’t switch during film. I have used 3 players (oppo, Sony, Samsung and a PS4) I’ve had a similar issue with a few Shout/scream factory titles.

There are quite a few titles that make subtitles UOP during playback, you have to either use the pop-up menu if they're there or go to the main menu.

Wow! I guess that's the answer!

Odd choice, seeing as the subtitles can be accessed the usual way for the Deleted Scenes.
