In this age with all the Smart-TV's it's possible to connect different gamepads to a wide range of devices. The purpose is to play games from the TV's own AppStore, as far as I know.
I'm curious to know if such a gamepad connected to a TV can also be used to control a Blu-ray player connected to the TV via HDMI. I understand the protocol for this is called CEC. I know that my extremely old non-smart Sony TV lets me control Kodi on a Rasberry Pi via HDMI, using the TV's own remote control. So I'm almost sure it's also possible on newer TV's. But a bluetooth-connected gamepad of course isn't the same as a remote control... The idea of course is to be able to (finally) play some of the Blu-ray games (such as Bolt's Be-Awesome Mission) with proper controls. Is it doable? |
