No, nothing else to report from the other German distributors and studios at the moment. Bu I think, if one starts it, the others may follow soon.

Thumbs up Germany: A Major Distributor goes Blu-ray exclusive!

Hi,

Some (good) news from Germany.

>>(Homepage)<<

"Constantin Film" (one of the major distributors here) drops HDDVD support by beginning of March, and will go Blu-ray exclusive.

Movies from "Constantin Film"... for example:

Quote:
• Resident Evil
• Resident Evil: Apocalypse
• Resident Evil: Extinction
• The Parfume
• Fantastic 4
• Fantastic 4: Rotss
....
and some more...

And even on TV (Newscast), people are saying:
Quote:
"If you want to buy HD-Media, buy Blu-ray, NO HDDVD anymore!"

Very good news. Although it does not affect us here directly, worldwide adoption of Blu-ray is what we are striving for.

This affects the US market, as well, as many HD DVD fans imported titles that were BD exclusive in the USA.

Good news. Hopefully we'll see Constantin films spearhead careful restoration of its catalogs in 4K so that we can get 2K/1080p versions on BD.
