Those that can't do, teach. Those that can't teach become critics. In this case, the press.

How can you make a statement like:

Quote:
“She’ll be the biggest singer in the world one day. Mark my words.”

The singer was Debbie Gibson.
and expect anyone to take your prognostications seriously?

That is a little weird...

Sony MAY regret winning, mark my words?!?!?!

How can this guy be wrong? If they dont regret it he is not wrong because he said, "Sony MAY regret their win."

If Sony does regret it, he can be like, "ha! told ya"

what a chump

All any thinking person has to do is ask himself, or herself, one question:

If hd-dvd had won, would we be seeing these articles predicting downloads as the eventual winner?

I thought you meant the band Tool.
I was going to be pissed if such a cool band said something so stupid.

Why so many people come out with articles trumpeting the imminent domination of downloads is beyond me. It ain't happening for a LONG time!

If HD-DVD had won, everyone would be returning their brand new HDTVs and exchanging them back for their old CRTs. They could use that money to but a bunch of perfectly good SD DVDs, after all!

Talking His e-mail overfloeth with Blu Wrath! Release the Hounds!

Unlike Universal, Paramount or Dreamworks, we CAN and SHOULD send this galaxy class ******* very worded and impolite e-mails. He was stupid enough to put it at the end of that glorified piece of toilet paper he calls an article so...

sathnam@thetimes.co.uk

Release the Hounds

P.S. I guarantee he regrets writting that article LOOONG before Sony ever feels a smidgeon of regret over killing off HD DUD

here is my response I posted...

If your mom is just now discovering the cd then.... well she has many problems deeper than her deciding blu-ray to hd-dvd or blu-ray to digital download. I for one and everyone else I know doesn't want to have all of our movies on a hard drive. I want the physical copy that I can hold and take anywhere I go if I want. Digital downloads for movies have been hyped for quite a while now and I for one won't jump on that bandwagon. My 1080p Blu-rays are all I need. And if I was a hd-dvd supporter I would say the same thing about that format. I won't download my movies just to see my hard drive crash!

Great post. So what were all the HD-DVD fans doing supporting thatformat when they knew it's days were numbered because of the digital downloads?

Aren't kids told the story of the wolf and the "sour grapes" anymore? That's all this is, sour grapes.

That's the best comment you can leave on someone's website (if you disagree with them, obviously)

Quite possibly. The shift happened in the press around 3Q and 4Q of 07, with the looming threat of Digital Downloads being the One and Only future.

The author admitted to not being able to pick the superior format after investigating it.
A journalist admitting to poor investigative skills.
What a moron.

How could you be a half way intelligent person and not realize that download movies are a rental alternative? This has nothing to do with disc sales, anymore than Blockbuster or Netflix affect dvd purchases.

Andrew Lim, the assistant demonstrating the gadgetry, must have sensed my befuddlement because he suddenly remarked: “To be honest, they’re pretty much the same. They run at the same resolution, carry the same audio. The only difference is that Blu-ray has more storage space and is more expensive to produce.”
Hmm, I guess he's a tool too as well since he didn't mention the higher bit-rate.
