I'd only buy this if it was considerably cheaper. Better to wait for the 4K set at that price.

I've been waiting for this, but now I just have more questions:

1) will there be a UHD set? is it in the works?
2) what makes it a collectors edition? what does it come with?
3) what will the "regular edition" complete set cost?

I know I'll just end up waiting....

Considering the first season is already on UHD with the others to follow a box set is likely.

All the Amazon page for the collector's set says is that it's custom designed and comes with 15 hours of bonus content and never before seen footage.

The UK 1-7 blu ray set costs £70 ($92) so 1-8 will probably be similar.

If it's like the other seasons I reckon it'll be around November before it's released. I think it'll be a lot cheaper then. I'm inclined to buy the 1-7 box set when it's a good price & buy the season 8 set when it's released, & that will be a good price if you shop around.

45 euro from France (plus p&p)

It was £16.95 from Amazon UK for a few hours on Saturday, but that was a miss-price & I read that they're cancelling the orders, but I think it will pop up at a good price, maybe over the Easter sales.

Every season release has had two or three store-exclusive bonus discs, so that alone would be a lot of content most fans haven't seen that hopefully they would include.

This will likely be in sleeves if they are the 4K set will mostly be as well. And if so I’ll pass and just buy the regular season 8 release.

I don't think any of the more than a dozen HBO sets I have are with sleeve type cases.

I think it's funny (not like, hilarious or anything) that the set looks so similar to the Larry Sanders Show set from Shout Factory.

Anyway. I hope they don't make everyone wait too long for a UHD release. (I could have sworn season 1 4K released nearly two years ago at this point, but it was only June last year?)

I was thinking the same thing when Amazon had 1-7 for $90. Plus 8 when I can get it for $25. That's $115 total. Waited to long, deal has passed. I doubt 1-8 complete set will ever be as cheap as 1-7 for $90 plus 8 by itself because the 1-7 set is obsolete and 1-8 will always be relevant.

I legit bought GOT 1-7 from Amazon Italy last year for 17 Euro. I can't imagine spending more than another $20 to complete my set. However, I wonder how much more bonus there is beyond the season 8 set. Like an extra disc?

It looks like it will be like Deadwoods Boxset. I hope not.

It looks like a… box? The reissue of Deadwood isn't a digibook. They fixed it. Even the larger set of The Sopranos is separate amarays in a box. But who's to say until it's out, I guess.

Absolutely. I'd also like to see a collection of "archive extras" similar to the what's included on the Alien, Godfather, Star Wars and Superman box sets.

I know about the Sopranos boxset but I didn’t know they reissued Deadwoood’s. Cause I bought it on release day and I made 1 case for it.

How many of the 15 hours are already in the 1-7 sets?

One thing I’ve noticed is that when complete TV sets advertise exclusive all-new bonus content, it’s usually referring to the stuff on the as-of-yet unreleased season (in this case season 8). HBO usually has a couple of new featurettes on their “complete” collections, but I definitely wouldn’t expect the store exclusive disc content to end up anywhere on this set. There’s too much of it, would require several discs worth of space (even if they recompress the current files), and there are likely to be additional store exclusive discs for season 8. (Point being, including commentaries, I imagine we can expect ~15 hours of bonus content for season 8.)

Do you think the complete series will include the Conquest & Rebellion bonus disc? I’m not expecting it, except maybe being unlocked digitally. A pity for those who missed it, as I thought the story content was worth my time.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the complete version didn’t include any additional disc content beyond the individual releases, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if there was a full extra bonus disc, in which case, it’ll be interesting to see if one of the stores gets that as a retailer exclusive season 8 pack-in.

If anything, though, I would expect the bonus disc to be that two hour documentary they’re airing after the series ends.

They also count commentary as bonus hours. With sometimes 2 tracks per episode, there could be 10 to 12 hours of bonus features there.

Too little information to go on at the moment. The box-set would have to be awesome as heck....and even it'll be hard choice. I already have the 1-7 seperate blu-ray box sets and most of them come with an exclusive disc...(plus one box is signed by Jerome Flyn who I met at a comic con last year), so it would be hard to imagine the complete blu-ray set will also have those same discs. And you just know there will be a 4k version somewhere down the line...so I'll probably just buy season 8 (with an exclusive disc hopefully) seperately (on blu-ray and maybe even 4k) and then wait for the 4k box-set.

I hope there is a feature about the box that they use to have Kit Harrington stand on so they can get him in the shot with the rest of the actors.
