Plot update:

It's the bloody Cannes effect. All these film makers rush their post production to get a cut ready for Spring in Cannes, although a lot of these films aren't planned for release until Autumn or later.

Haven't watched anything by in quite sometime, so I'm game. He really is one of the most interesting directors around.

Rush? It's been over a year since his last film came out. I was worried about him.

Miike usually puts out at least 2 (and as many 8) new films per year.

The film will be released in select theaters later this year, with the digital and home entertainment release scheduled for first quarter 2020.

Someone on the Blu-ray topic saw it and said it was pretty good. It's gotten pretty good reviews from critics as well.

I just checked my amc app and it’s not there but arclight has showings today and tomorrow only; may try to check this out!

I liked this quite a bit. There was a nice bit of comedy mixed in with the action.

This is some real good Miike style in Yakuza genre. If you have been a long time fan and enjoyed themes of family and stories about those who are merely on the edge of the underworld in his older Yakuza movies, I think you should check this out.

I am also pretty sure that there is a scene which utilizes a musical cue from Rainy Dog which shares some themes with this film.

If you have seen Miike's recent Mole Song outings and felt that they were a bit too over the top and that there was a link missing from most viewers to what is on screen, I think you might enjoy this tale of an orphan boxer's brush with the underworld.
