Can't wait to see this, and will be getting 4K and 3D for this one (separately, since I doubt we'll get them together here).

Now just give us the announcement for G'14

You and I think alike pal
The HDR and WCG are gonna look balls to the wall insane with the visuals this movie is offering.

The 4K Blu-ray could bring some life back on the PQ. The Blu-ray is dark and dull.

I think HDR version will look much closer to the trailer.

As this was not filmed in 3D I will skip it and just watch it in IMAX and then Dolby Cinema if my local one shows it.

I thought the audio on Godzilla 2014 was some of the best I've ever heard. Can't wait to get both of these in 4k and Atmos (hopefully)!!!

Godzilla 2014 needs a 4K release. But this... I'm SO EXCITED for this one!

Sweet! Maybe Best Buy will pull a Kong: Skull Island and give us a 4k/3D steelbook.

I hope that happens because that's the only way I'd even consider buying the 4K release. Either a 4K UltraHD+Blu-Ray 3D+Blu-Ray 2D+4KMA+Digital4K+SteelBook or at least provide a Blu-Ray 3D+Blu-Ray+DigitalMA+DigitalUV or a Blu-Ray 3D+Blu-Ray+Dvd+DigitalMA+DigitalUV.

Just a few quotes from the latest AC article:

Quote:
Blade Runner (AC June ’82 )was a prominent reference. “That’s a gorgeous science-fiction film, never surpassed in terms of aesthetics,” the director says. Alien (AC Aug. ’79) was also an influence, as were its sequels Aliens and Alien3 (AC Dec. ’92). “There is a moody and grounded quality in those films that we wanted to bring back,” Dougherty continues. “Those filmmakers weren’t afraid of shadows and grain. I miss the atmospherics and texture of those films. As we start to embrace digital, I worry the image is getting too clean and perfect all the time, which takes away from the tension you can build with darkness and shadow and splashes of light.”
Quote:
In keeping with the last Godzilla — as well as Kong: Skull Island, which exists in the same on screen universe — the production elected to work primarily with anamorphic lenses, though the filmmakers recognized that certain visual - effects shots would benefit from being shot with spherical lenses. “Mike and I love the anamorphic look in Alien and Close Encounters of the Third Kind [AC Jan. ’78], and we wanted the feel of [anamorphic’s] dirty imperfections,” Sher explains. “We would go spherical to use more of the sensor for visual-effects shots that we knew we would have to reposition, or extend at the top or bottom, and to have a little less anamorphic distortion. The Alexa 65 gave us more image resolution, and when we went spherical it gave us even more image quality.”
Quote:
Bogdanowicz added grain to further realize the filmmaker’s desired look.
She says the monsters’ colors were among the grade’s top priorities. “They all have subtle skin colors, and they’re in a lot of different environments, such as Antarctica with the cold, blue ice. And then there’s fire and explosions and a lot of atmosphere,so we made sure their skin colors stayed consistent and worked well within those environments.

I’m so pumped to see this! Eagerly awaiting tickets to go on sale! My question is should I see it in Dolby or IMAX?

Dolby for me, but this is one of those movies I might try to see both.

Maybe it was just the theater I saw this in (3D, low quality theater) but the action scenes with Godzilla all looked dark. Like it's covering for the poor quality CGI.

I hope I'm wrong as I love giant monster movies.
