HDTV1080P Blu-ray Champion Top contributor Member since:Jan 2007 Blu-ray reviews: 205	Sony's Playstation 5 (8K capable over HDMI 2.1) Hopefully the Playstation 5 will be able to playback 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray optical discs. The PS4 never could play 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray discs, just standard Blu-ray discs. The following is a quote from page 42 of the June 2019 Widescreen Review magazine: "And Sony has announced that the next Playstation platform, PS5, will be 8K capable. This is also expected to arrive in 2020."
