What do Steven Spielberg's standard Director of Photography Janusz Kaminski, the director of "Inspector Gadget" David Kellogg, the actors Michael Gross (Family Ties / Tremors), Kristen Minter (Home Alone / Emergency Room), Victor DiMattia (The Sandlot) and cult rap-star Vanilla Ice have in common?

You nailed it! In 1991 they all worked together on Ice’s feature film debut COOL AS ICE. Unfortunately, despite the previous billboard hit "Ice Ice Baby", the film did not have the expected success. On video it became a cult hit because of its exaggerated ways and the legendary quotable one-liners. Pretty much every film-fan can find an entertaining aspect on COOL AS ICE depending on your perspective. The gentlemen of the infamous audio commentary project "RiffTrax" gave this movie a very special polish with one of their best performances.

Since nobody dared touch this movie in our territory or overseas, we took all our courage and produced an awesome Blu-ray Special Edition. Not only did we drag Vanilla Ice and his colleagues in front of our camera for exclusive interviews, telling us about the making of this very special film, we also produced new audio commentaries. Of course, the above mentioned RiffTrax commentary will be on board as well. We don't want to reveal much more details for now. But we think that this film is a perfect time-capsule back to the early 90s and it delivers 91 minutes of "Good Times" on multiple levels. This upcoming winter is going to be Cool as Ice.

I watched the Rifftrax version of this last year. I almost died, and not from laughter. FUN FACT: the leading lady was almost played by Gwyneth Paltrow. Her father convinced her it would kill her career.

I am so up for this.

Yes, the movie is terrible on every level. Even if you enjoy Vanilla Ice's music (and who doesn't?) having this movie surrounding it is an absolute killer. Today it's the kind of film Asylum Pictures would make straight to DVD with a title more like Vanilla Rhapsody, featuring flying sharks and spaceships on the cover. Yes, you'd pick it up and laugh, but by God you wouldn't spend £5 on it at Asda.

But to my original comment; I had this masterpiece on VHS from Universal/CIC Video. Having never seen it, my then girlfriend and I put it on. For 90 glorious minutes we rolled around on the bed, making out, kissing like it was going out of fashion and, well, you get the idea, all while this played in the background. If the apocalypse had happened there and then I'd have died happy. The end of the world to Ice Ice Baby.

For that reason alone, and to relive the memories all over again, I will buy a special edition of Cool as Ice in amazing packaging (hopefully) with tonnes of special features at any price.

Oh, and Turbine, I beg you, please please please, do a Steelbook edition.

I know awhile ago Michael Gross posted on Facebook that he recorded an interview for a blu-ray of this. Don't know if it was specifically for Turbine or if this will be getting a simultaneous release in the US or something.

It sounded like the interview was for the Turbine release and that it would be in Germany only.
