Superman: Red Son (Animated DC Movie)

During the premiere panel for Batman: Hush at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, DC announced that the first DC Universe Movie of 2020 will be Superman: Red Son, an adaptation of the three-issue, 2003 miniseries by Mark Millar, Dave Johnson, and Killian Plunkett.

Superman: Red Son is a vivid tale of Cold War paranoia, that reveals how the ship carrying the infant who would later be known as Superman lands in the midst of the 1950s Soviet Union. Raised on a collective, the infant grows up and becomes a symbol to the Soviet people, and the world changes drastically from what we know - bringing Superman into conflict with Batman, Lex Luthor and many others.

Full Cast List:

Jason Isaacs (Star Trek: Discovery) will provide the voice of Superman, and he'll be joined by American Housewife's Diedrich Bader as Lex Luthor, and Angel alum Amy Acker as Lois Lane.

The animated adventure will also feature Star Wars Rebels' Vanessa Marshall as Wonder Woman, Doom Patrol's Phil Morris as James Olsen, Paul Williams (Goliath) as Brainiac, Sasha Roiz (Grimm) as Hal Jordan, and Phil LaMarr (Supergirl) as John Stewart. Frequent Batman voice actor Roger Craig Smith (Batman Ninja, Batman: Arkham Origins) will return as The Dark Knight.

Superman: Red Son is set to hit DVD/Blu-ray and digital download during the first quarter of 2020.

Red Son is one of the best Superman comic books out there. One of my favorites, I recommend everyone to check it out.

Really glad they are making it into a movie, and if that screengrab is anything to go by, the artwork is looking very nice!

Superman: Man of Tomorrow , gonna be released late 2020, focuses on young Superman. Not sure if boy scout, but classic-not-russian Superman, at least

Can't believe it took they didn't release this sooner. One of the best "elseworlds" stories out there.

Yeah, Red Son is amazing. And this is coming from someone who is definitely NOT a Mark Millar fan. At least, not typically. But this is such a great story.

It was WB that wouldn't let it happen. The DC animated teams have wanted to do it for a long time and wanted to do it far earlier in the DC animated lineup, but they were continuously blocked from doing it by the WB shot-callers, who wanted straight zip and zoom stuff, after The New Frontier was released.

WB sucks so hard. I hope this is good, I wish they'd drop the 52 look... Id prefer this to be a proper sequel for Cavill, obviously it would have to be tweaked.
