I really hope Lustig incorporates the "extra footage" that thus far has only been included as an extra back into the film as a viewing option (seamless branching, perhaps?). The only dialogue for that shot is at the very end, and said dialogue is included in the International trailer ("Take me away from here. I can't stand it anymore. Please, take me away!"). That dialogue could be taken into Pro-tools to remove the underlying music then synced up with the shot and reintegrated into the film itself (like Synapse did with the extra English line of the dialogue from the PHENOMENA trailer for their version of the 116-minute cut).

That's fantastic, I just saw someone purchased this movie on this forum and I looked it up. It's interesting, will def be a blind buy for me!

Your sacrifice was not in vain! Someone in the Criterion thread mentioned that caved to buy the Haxan DVD and the next batch of announcements included the Haxan blu ray upgrade.

We should start a sign up sheet for those who buy movies that need an upgrade or to go back in print. Someone bites the bullet and then the community benefits. I paid $40 for Ninja Busters on ebay when it was OOP and then Garagehouse Pictures brought it back in print and offered it for $10 during Black Friday.

Would be great if they used the artwork pictured. That's how the film was promoted in the US. And the opening sequence had a different theme song playing over the credits, which was much more sinister sounding - and appropriate to the film. Thrilled beyond words this is being remastered.

Excellent! I was hoping this one would come up sooner rather than later. This is one of the few BU releases I don't own so it won't be a double dip. I came so close to snagging it several times over the last 6 months thanks to the low prices on it, but with the idea that a 4k release was pending I decided to hold off. Glad my patience will be worth it.

I still don't own The Beyond, should probably get on that. It's my favorite of the Gates of Hell trilogy.
