Default Octane theater seating

I'm looking onto purchasing Octane theater seats for my living room. To be specific the XL700 with power recliners. Looking for anyone who has them and can share if the chairs are quality built with comfort. Main reason into looking at Octane is Magnolia has them and I'll take advantage of the financing.

Personally, theater seats would look more appropriate in they were put in a dedicated home theater room, not in a living room. For a living room, you would want to have a living room set: a sofa, love seat, chairs, a cocktail and end tables, not theater seats. Theater seats will not look right in a standard living room at all. If you put theater seats in a living room,(other than living room furniture) it's going to look out of place. Your family, friends and other guest who'll may come to visit you, will think so too. If people is not watching a movie, they would want to have the feeling and the atmosphere of sitting in a living room, not in a theater. Octane and other theater seats are made specifically for home theater rooms. I would think twice about buying theater seats for your living room.

My living room is setup as basically a two seat screening room. My A/V equipment dominate the room. We
have other areas for entertaining guests.

I'm interested in some octane seats as well, I narrowed it down to the xl450 and xl850 but I can't find anywhere locally to actually see them before I spend $1500 and find out they aren't comfortable to sit in or cheaply made and reviews are few and far between... their warranty is better than any of the other similar brands too

No local department nor furniture stores would have octane theater seats. You would have to order them online. $1,500.00 or more is a lot of money to spend for items, without seeing the merchandise in person, and to know exactly what you're buying. If you must have theater seats, I would go with the next best thing, which would be reclining living room chairs. You can buy those at any local furniture store. You can sit, feel, and inspect the material, and ask any questions to the salesperson about the item, etc. Actually I don't know what so special about octane chairs anyway, except for them having cup holders build in the arm rest. Other than the cup holders, octane theater chairs aren't any different than regular reclining chairs. They may be more comfortable than octane theater seats, and they're much cheaper. Most theater seats are made of leather and personally, I don't like leather furniture (especially in a vehicle) because leather seats is uncomfortable, it gets really hot in the summer, and it will stick to your body, when you're wearing short pants, short sleeve shirts or tank tops. Leather material have a tendency to crack over a period of time, which is why you'll have to keep it clean and conditioned, to prevent it from cracking. Just don't have anything with a sharp edge sticking out of your pocket, or you'll rip it, then it will be ruined.

I have the Curve HR with real leather and love it. Very comfortable and no problems after 18 months.

I have the straight XL700 (2 seats) real leather with power reclining. They are comfortable for me...I have actually fallen asleep in them a few times.

My body doesn't stick to the leather due to heat (I'm wearing shorts) but every now and then my head will sweat. When that happens I put a small cushion behind my head.

Prices for the octane are negotiable if you buy them online instead of at Best Buy. I bought the two seats with a walnut table shipped to me for under 1500.00. No white glove delivery and assembly is only putting on the back part which takes only a minute or less. The hardest part was the unboxing.

Thank you. May I ask where you purchased yours from?

Theaterseatstore.com My contact there was Rob Slayden 1428.00 for the seats —-tray not included. With walnut tray and free shipping 1488.00. It includes the taxes too.

2 seats/real leather/power recline/ 1 walnut tray....but I did not finance this so I don’t know if that will be available. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Now this I really don't believe. If your leather seats does stick (which it probably does), and gets hot, you wouldn't admit it because, you want to seem like your money was well spent. leather furniture in general is notoriously known to stick, and retain heat when it's hot, and it gets cold in a cold atmosphere. Your leather seats are no different than everybody else's leather furniture.

well it's not like these sit outside in 100+ degree heat either, they are inside the house and if it's too hot then turn the ac down sheesh

Well....I’m saying the back of my head sweats SOME of the times —not all the time. I can’t help it if my lower body doesn’t sweat when the top part does. Trust me — I wouldn’t lie or even think about not telling the truth. I haven’t own my seats during the winter so I have no idea if I will stick to it then.

I keep my ac at 76 in the house and it freezes me out since I’m wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

I don't know anything about "Octane", but if they are sold by Magnolia then I can only imagine they have a high markup.

I bought my HT recliners back in 2004. I recall back then that Barco-loungers(sp?) were pretty popular and available online for a decent price delivered. I remember going into a popular HT store and finding seats for $1000 a piece that were just the barco-loungers rebaged and sold for twice the price. AVS forum is where i found good online pricing back then. I went with a different brand manufactured in Canada because I needed seats less wide to accommodate a four seat row.

I recently saw a joined pair of two leather power HT recliners (including cup folders) at Costco for around $700. They were very nice.

I’ve had a 2-seat row of Octane XL700 with power for about a year in a living room that’s basically a screening room. The build feels solid, the motors run quietly, and the chaise footrest is super comfortable for long movies. The leather’s held up well even through summer, I just use a small headrest cover when it’s warm. Definitely measure carefully though, they’re big and need some wall clearance. I did have one recline switch go flaky, but support sent a replacement quickly.
For patio seating, I went with a Canadian-made setup from wickerpark.ca. The recycled materials and Sunbrella cushions have held up really well outside, and delivery and support were both smooth.
