Default The Maltese Falcon (1941)

Last night I had the awesome experience of being able to go to the cinema and watch John Huston's The Maltese Falcon for the first time as part of the Flashback Cinema with my awesome wife (she agreed to go with me even though she isn't a film buff like me). It was one of the best experiences I've had in a theater. We arrived early and we were the only patrons in the theater until a few minutes before the start of the film. The 6 other people who arrived were very quiet and respectful during the whole thing. The movie was amazing! The acting, dialogue, and direction was awesome! It was interesting to watch a film from 1941 (53 years before I was born) at the movie theater. The aspect ratio being 1.37:1 was especially cool to see in such a blown up screen. I will definitely be purchasing the Blu-Ray soon and re-watching it. Even my wife enjoyed it. I would highly recommend watching this if you haven't before. I am a fan of some older black and white movies, but now I really want to dive deep! This is the stuff dreams are made of!

If you enjoyed this, look into “The Big Sleep”, “Key Largo”, and of course “Casablanca”.

I had the opportunity to see “Casablanca” on the big screen two years ago and loved it.

Dark Passage is another great one. I blind bought that and it turned out to be my favorite Bogart film.

I was always and oddly fascinated by this and other Bogart leading films whenever my mom would watch them late at night, thankfully they're awesome. Outside of his big hits like this I also love The Treasure of Sierra Madre, which features one of Bogart's best performances.

If we’re talking Bogart, I love his performance in The Caine Mutiny! In a Lonely Place is another good one!

Is it just me or are very overcast/rainy days just absolutely perfect for classic black and white viewing? Especially film noir.

BTW, love the avatar Ricky G!

Totes. You don't want to watch film noir on a sunny day, spoils the effect.

Name's Crawl. Nickname. They gave it to me my freshman year cause that's how I always got home.

Oh yeah, she had good tastes in film including turning us onto Mel Brooks, old Universal monster films, etc.

I don't think there's a better cast in any film. Everyone is a gem and they all fit and play together brilliantly.

My favourite part from the supporting cast is when Miss Shaughnessy "laughs" when Spade tells her
[Show spoiler]she's taking the fall for Miles

Question

Does anyone know if THE MALTESE FALCON has gotten or will get a 4K restoration from the original camera negative?
