![]() ![]() The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh (aka Dr. Syn, Alias the Scarecrow) is slated for an October 8th release through the Disney Movie Club. The new DMC flyer states that the television serial version will be included on this disc. Last edited by WaltWiz1901; 10-06-2019 at 05:25 PM. |

The New mailer which some people have states in the 3 Part Adventure and that it's a Blu-ray releasing Oct 8.
Several CSR on the phone have said it's releasing Tuesday, so unless Disney is trying to move April Fools to October I think it's 100% confirmed |

Since this is going to be the original three part TV episode version as originally aired on Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color, let’s hope that this will be the first of many Blu-ray releases for full length episodes of Walt-era TV!

I've never seen this but it sounds like something a lot of people grew up with. I'll have to ask my dad if he remembers this. Can anybody say how it compares to Hammer's Captain Clegg, which was based on the same source material? I think I've read that it's more faithful to the book, at least in terms of the ending but am curious.
Terrific cover art, too! |

I concur! The Treasures line, impressive as it was, unfortunately skipped over some important or really interesting episodes and serials. |

Leonard Maltin wanted to continue the line, but he was going into deep cuts that modern audiences weren't familiar with, so the number of runs got even more exclusive the deeper he dove. My hope is that we'll eventually see these episodes and even further deep cuts on Disney+...I'm not holding my breath. I'd hang on to those Treasure sets. Very unlikely we're going to see those films and shorts in the foreseeable future, not even on Disney+ (Walt Disney on the Front Lines, in particular). Disappointed we never got a set of the People and Places series, a spin-off of the True-Life Adventures. I can only assume they're of questionable taste in the current marketplace.

I just bit the bullet and bought the Blu-ray for 38 dollars total on Ebay. I hope I didn't make a mistake.

I'll be keeping my treasure tin for the feature film version and the supplements.
Disney gives short shrift on these discs. Yes the transfers are nice, but to deny us the supplements that were on the DVD editions is just ... well, there's such a thing as being too cheap. Last edited by Richard--W; 10-07-2019 at 03:53 AM. |

I have not got around to reading the books, so I can't say how faithful any movie version is. |

I recall someone saying that the VHS release was superior in the day for night footage, but I can say this was not true after viewing the VHS release. It could be that the day for night footage is as good as it's going to ever look, but we will know soon. I wonder if the Blu-ray will be letterboxed or full frame?
