Default The Bee Gees

Quote:

Paramount Pictures is teaming with upstart producer/financier Sister and Bohemian Rhapsody producer Graham King to mount a movie about The Bee Gees, the trio whose worldwide sales of over 220 million records established them as one of the biggest selling groups of all time. While Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb first began performing together in the late 1950s, much of their popularity came after they wrote songs for Saturday Night Fever that prolonged the popularity of disco and led to one of the top selling albums ever.

Paramount has purchased the life rights to the Gibb family estate on behalf of GK’s King, and so will be able to use their song classics in the movie. Sister, the venture just launched by Elisabeth Murdoch, Stacey Snider and Chernobyl producer Jane Featherstone, will come aboard as either a producing partner or a co-financier.

Paramount just found success making Rocketman, the Dexter Fletcher-directed drama about the rocky formative years of Elton John, a film that had strong performances by Taron Egerton (who sang the signature Elton John hits) and Jamie Bell as Elton’s songwriting partner Bernie Taupin.

This is all well and fine for fans of The Bee Gees, but man what I would give for a Rockeman-style take on The Beatles. They could even take a page out of the Bohemian Rhapsody playbook and only do it on one particular "era" of The Beatles if they wanted to.

I mean I know it won't happen, because McCartney is known for being very controlling on how The Beatles' history is portrayed, and it requires all 4 (McCartney, Starr, Lennon Estate, and Harrison Estate) to agree to something before it can be done, but still...a man can dream.

This band never did much for me. A few catchy disco songs that get played ad nauseum during every wedding ever, lol. I dunno. Meh.

I do like that song "Bald Headed Woman" though....

I've never cared much for disco but whenever the Bee Gees come on I have to turn it up. Their music was really fun. I'd be interested in this.

Listened to them growing up thanks to my dad. Their music is going to sound fantastic on Dolby Cinema speakers, that much is a given.

Born in England and raised from young boys in Redcliffs, Queensland. There house is not far from a friends and a small sign out the front advertises it.

The Bee Gees have a lot of cool catchy songs in their catalogue. No idea how the biopic will turn out but the soundtrack should be damn good.
