Default Suggestion Mods/Adm: Pre-Order Section - can we get the movies listed by release date

In the Pre-Order Section - can we get the movies listed by release date, rather than in the order they're received? This would make it easier to read chronologically, like the coming soon or new release section of the Home page. Perhaps you could denote New (posted within the last 3-4 days) status by putting "*NEW*" before the title (and I know this is the home of Blu, but maybe even make it *NEW*).

Thanks,

Doc

i dont know if this is possible at all, but maybe on the page for each movie it has the summary, review, features, box covers, screenshots, comments, news, and it now shows forums, which is what i was suggesting..that way for each movie, someone could click forum and it would be a semi sub forum/topic related to that movie particularly...this may not help for the movies that dont have a release date yet set or even announced but for the ones that are i think it would be helpful

But how would that work? You'd end up with the New Release and Coming Soon sections matching the preorder section which would be pointless.

Whatever differentiates the two sections now would hold true for an update. Coming soon would be for the next 1-4 weeks - Pre-Order Section appears to be for releases beyond that point...

I'm merely suggesting listing the pre-order section chronologically, by release with special 'note' given to the newest pre-order news, so people can easily see which pre-orders are hot off the press.

I understand that's probably the purpose of listing them by newest announced title first, but it makes it all jumbly to get a sense of what is coming out when...

Well that's what the Coming Soon (and the Apocalist) are there for, Ne?

Default Magic mirror - I see coming, and coming later...

To me Coming Soon is more of a near-future (as in go to the store in a week or two and buy it on release day), and Preorders are "These are up on Amazon or whatever, so you can put your order in now and they will ship to you when it's released in two months".

I've often tried skimming through the Apocalist thread before to spot newly announced movies, but the damn thing is so choked up all the time - I stopped bothering.

Granted - if Coming Soon incorporated both near-future releases AND newly available Preorders - you'd have a really good look at the schedule for the next couple months, but then folks would still want to be able to see the NEWest additions, and to be able to tell which are available for preorder.

Leaving the sections separate, listed by release date, with a little note to make it easy to see when a NEW addition has been made to the pre-order list - I feel is the way to go.

All I'm suggesting is to list the Pre-orders by release date also (for distant- future clarity) and just note recent additions to the list with the word NEW. (very eye-catching).

Yes? No?

All I can see in the Pre-order section now is a jumble of movies, and all I can assume is that the top-most ones were added the most recently. I think the suggestion I made would do 2 things:

1) Give clarity to the down-the line release schedule.
2) Let readers easily see when something NEW has been added to the slate.

I think this would enhance the home page, and make slogging through the Apocalist unnecessary (especially since it - more often than not - doesn't appear in the top threads listed on the Home page).

Does my suggestion really sound THAT kooky?

Its probably difficult to do that in that list, as they put them in as soon as they are announced. It keeps the newly announced at the top of the list for people that look at it every day. Thanks for the list.

Here's the thing though, if you have the coming soon section have 4 weeks worth of movies, that's going to be anywhere from 16-32 movies listed on the front page. Then they'd be in order of release date... And then there'd be another seperate pre-order section with the same movies? I don't see how it's nessisary to do it. You'd end up with 32-64 of the same movies listed in 2 sections taking up that much more space on the front page. If you want them in order, you can actually click on movies and look at the Coming Soon section.

You could take the coming soon section and combine it with the preorders like you said, but then most of the coming soon movies will have been available for preorder a long time. I personally think it should be left alone as I don't see how it could really be improved.

Thank you for the feedback.

If you simply want a complete list of coming releases ordered by release date, what's wrong with the Coming Soon section?
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movie...how=comingsoon

The New Pre-orders list on the front page may look unorganized but it is listed in the order of pre-orders showing up on Amazon. This is the most practical way to do it as if we order the list by release date you need to skim through it to see if something new has been listed. Also, if we order it by the release date the list would appear to be complete for the date range but there would be other titles that were simply added earlier that aren't listed there which would be confusing.

I quite like the current setup, since I want to see the movies most recently made available for pre-order. I skim the top of the list and, if I find anything I want to order, I click the link to Amazon and buy it. If I want to know what's being released in chronological order, I can find that in any number of places.

Seems the only one dissenting is me. But I think I'm not making myself clear.

I'll try to elucidate later when I have time...

I'm not suggesting a change to the coming soon section. If you'll look, it already lists 3-4 weeks of movies. So the "problem" you're hinting at does not exist.

Justlook at the movies in the Pre-order section.... look at the dates. it looks messy. we've got Mar,Mar,Feb,Feb,Feb,Mar,Apr,Mar,Mar,Feb,Feb,Mar,Fe b,Apr,Mar,Jan (? are you kidding?), back to Mar,Apr,Apr,Mar...

So a January title is listed almost LAST? Dunno, it just doesn't make sense to me. My suggestion was to give clarity to the long term titles (one's that aren't close enough to release to show up in the Coming Soon section.

It's also being suggested that my suggestion would bring about duplicates between the sections... guess what - that situation already exists. Not my doing.

I will acquiesce after this post, as I'm either not getting through, or I'm in the minority.

I wish it could be assumed that if it is Coming Soon (within the next 3-4 weeks) that it's available for Pre-order. If it's not Coming Soon - it should be left back in the Pre-order section.

That being said - here was my aim.

1) To give perspective to the pre-orders and make it easy to see just how far away their release dates were (beyond 3-4 weeks) and how the release dates relate to each other. I think it makes it neater, simpler.

Since I knew there would be a complaint about not being able to see when new Pre-orders are added -
2) I suggested the notation of *NEW* for posts within the last few days to a week.

I'm actually in favor of eliminating the duplications between the sections. If it's coming soon put it in the section and presume it's available for pre-order. If it's not coming "SOON" leave it in the pre-order section.

If this doesn't sound like a good idea, so be it. It was just a suggestion after all. I just think it's kinda funny that the "problems" that are being attributed to my suggestions - already exist in the current sections as they are (Confusion, Duplicates). I was looking to eliminate those...

I'm glad that here at the Forum, we're at east given the opportunity to contribute. G'day all.

Aaaaaanndd.... End Scene.

Unfortunately Amazon is sometimes late in adding titles for pre-order so there's not much we can do about that.

However, you have a point when it comes to the list looking a bit messy. After thinking about it for a while I've just realized that perhaps we should have listed when the pre-order was added instead of when the movie will be released, so I've updated the front page to show "Date added" instead of the "Release date".
