Could I get a straight answer please?

Hi guys, Im your average joe looking to get into the HD market. At first I thought HDDVD was going to be the master race, what with the region coding missing, and the cheapness. However after the warner incident Ive come over to the blu side. So now Ive waited patiently for the war to be pretty much over, I cant decide what to buy. Another dissadvantage is the fact I live in Britain, which means im several months behind you guys across the pond. Ive read countless reviews, many condtridicting each other. Im not really interested in the 1.1 or 2.0 as im only a film buff. Im not really into extras. But would it be wise to wait for a 1.1 or even the 2.0 profile? At the moment Im looking at the slow samsung 1400. Thanks for your help guys.
