Default Vizio OLED Lineup 2020

Okay...they are on their way. Using panels from LG and quite a history of lower priced tv's, how big a splash will they make??

Definitely depends on the price... if they are real aggressive like 500 less than LG and a BIG splash.... same price and more like a drop in the ocean.

So is LG the only OLED panel factory? I keep hearing people say Sony and now Vizio gets their panels from LG. If this is true then LG is going to be able to control the price and quality control of the OLED market.

Good to see Vizio enter the market for OLED screens. There needs to be some companies that make the OLED panels themselves. By doing so the OLED screens would be able to be made cheaper and perhaps even better quality. By only having one company supply the OLED screens, it will make OLED screens a niche high-end market.

Maybe some of the high quality Chinese companies might offer OLED screens at both a excellent quality and a lower price compared to South Korea LG.

Correct, LG Display is the only manufacturers of the OLED panels.

Panasonic also, I'm not worried about the monopoly for now as these guys are currently in a group together and have bigger fish to fry than each other. Panasonic have worked with LG on QC issues and the panel is just one part of the TV.

I think the biggest thing for me will be how their new processor will work and the price. I have a 3-year-old P-Series and while having good black levels and 4K and 1080p material looks great it stinks to hog heaven on upscaling any lower quality material. I've heard that later models have had similar poor upscaling so I'm hoping their new processing chip and maybe a sub $1000 price point could have me upgrade my tv this year.

What size were you thinking? Cuz based in the prices of their PQ and PQX series this past year, I'm doubting their OLED is going to be under a grand. Cheaper than LG/Sony, sure, but under $1,000 is...something.

My heart wants 65' but my wallet says 55'. I'm fairly certain I'm looking at $1200 to $1500 at the cheapest when released though.

Well, based on their announcement (finally) that their OLED will be launching this Fall for $1300.00 for the 55"...I could realistically see it dropping to $1,000 or slightly less during a sale.

"Vizio’s new OLED models will be very attractively priced at $2,000 for a 65-inch screen size and $1,300 for a 55-incher when they arrive in the fall. A highlight of the OLEDs is a pedestal base that provides docking for the company’s premium 5.1.4 Elevate Sound Bar (shown above) that supports both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X immersive audio formats. The Elevate Sound Bar will cost $1,000 when it ships this fall."

"All new Vizio M Series Quantum and above LCD models use quantum dots for expanded color, and the full line is compatible with Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG, and—new for 2020—HDR10+ high dynamic range formats."

According to Best Buy's page, the OLED is set to release Sept 13th. Could change/be incorrect but it's a bit too specific to be a placeholder date.

I really wished they had the 77" panels in the 2020 lineup but I gather that may have been too ambitious for their inaugural OLED run.

My phone is acting up today so it won't let my copy/paste the YouTube link, but...

Stop the FOMO has posted a "first impressions" video as they picked up this set over the weekend. It's only a sped up unboxing and then mostly verbal run down of what he sees as the strengths and weaknesses so far. He does say a "review" video won't be coming until he's had a couple hundred hours of break in and then a calibration.

Oh yeah, they could have really shook things up with a 77" oled for $2999.

Have the reported elevated blacks been addressed by firmware updates?

Apparently Best Buy is offering both sizes at $100 off now. So we do indeed have a sub-2 grand 65" OLED on the market now.

Wonder what the early January price will be. Hoping for a deal about that time.
