IMO, it's the best of the latter period Hammer Films. I've always enjoyed this film.

I've got the Australian BD release of this film, it will be interesting to see what Scream will be offering in terms of their release.

This bodes well for a near-future Shout release of Frankenstein And The Monster From Hell.

I've been meaning to watch this for a long time, so glad a Blu-ray is finally coming out here. Heard nothing, but good things about this one.

This must be one of those licences from both Hammer (who owns the copyright and overseas distribution rights) and Paramount (who have US distribution rights). Million dollar question is if it will only feature ether the 4k Hammer transfer in 1.66 or 1.85, the crustier Paramount HD transfer, or both?

The glorious Ms. Munro's always an asset but this and "The Golden Voyage of Sinbad" (also 1974) were her two most stunning showcases. Excellent films and she's terrific in both.

As someone who loves many of the unconventional avenues Hammer went down in the 70s - a vampire swashbuckler? What's next, vampires and Kung-Fu? - this one's a real favorite. An interesting and clever melding of genres served up in that great Hammer style - it's a shame this marked the only feature film directed by Brian Clemens.

Of course, it's great to see that brunette beauty Caroline Munro in her prime - and her larger role here makes up somewhat for her being dispatched far too early in DRACULA A.D.1972 - though I'm inclined to admit red-headed Lois Daines' Sara has a certain haughty sexiness...

So, great news! And as a bonus, this release has me more convinced Terence Fisher's terrific FRANKENSTEIN AND THE MONSTER FROM HELL must surely be in the offing.

Well, they made The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires later in 1974.

One of the few Hammer Horrors where the hero is not a cleric / puritan, but a sort of medieval James Bond. Good fun.

I know. That's what I was cheekily referring to.

Any reviews yet? How does the transfer stack up next to the Aussie Blu?

Never seen this and considering a blind purchase. How does this movie compare to their 70’s Hammer Releases?

It's fun film, I like it as much as Vampire Circus and more than 7 Golden Vampires.

It was posted on another thread that apparently Shout used an old master for its transfer instead of the newer master used by the Australian and German blu-rays.
